A Christmas break bucket list

It’s official, the Christmas break is upon us. I’ve been counting down to this week for so long and I’m determined to savour every moment of festivity and relaxation and excessive booze drinking. Ah sweet Christmas.

I thought I’d pull together a little Christmas break bucket list, a rundown of everything I want to do in the next 11 days, before heading back to work refreshed and ready for a new year. So here you have it…

1) Catch up with all my favourite people

Christmas is a pretty special time of the year because it’s the only time we get to catch up with everyone we love – old friends, new friends, family. I can’t wait to see everyone and chat and hug and swap pressies and chat some more.

2) Read lots

The past month or so has been so hectic that I’ve hardly read at all. I’ve brought a big chunk of my to-read list home and I can’t wait to power through it and completely switch off.

3) Head to the beach

I LOVE going to the beach in the winter, and we’re planning to take our family dog for a big walk along Formby beach before we head back to Leeds. Hopefully we’ll be able to squeeze in some fish and chips too!

4) Relive all of our Christmas traditions

I can’t wait to do all of those things that we do every year like my sister and I wearing matching PJs on Christmas eve or having a Buck’s Fizz with brekkie on Christmas day. Next year we’ll likely be at Sam’s parents for Christmas so I really want to savour all of our family traditions this year.

5) Catch up on sleep

The prospect of 12 consecutive lie ins in a row is more exciting than I can handle – catching up on some zzzzz’s this Christmas break is high on my priority list. Thankfully I have new PJs, Christmas bedding and lots of comfy napping sofas to assist in my mission.

6) Enjoy all the Christmas food

Party food, Christmas dinners, entire boxes of chocolate… you get the jist. I mentioned yesterday that I will have to undertake quite a serious diet underhaul in the new year for health reasons so I’ll definitely be making the most of all of the festive treats before then.

7) Have a clear out

We’ll be moving house in the new year so to make the whole packing job easier I want to try and have a very early spring clean! I’ve got so much stuff ready to take to the charity shop and the tip so hopefully I can get it all out of the house and start 2016 surrounded by less clutter…

8) Get some sale bargains

I’m in the market for some furniture and a new coat – where should I be shopping people!? To be fair, I placed a pretty hefty ASOS order yesterday so I’m already well on the way to ticking this one off my list…

9) Rewatch my favourite Christmas films

Love Actually, The Holiday, Miracle on 34th Street – I’ve watched them all already recently, but it’s highly essential that I watch them all again before the festivities are over. It’s just the rules guys.

What have you got planned over the Christmas period?

A trip to the beach sounds so good! And miracle on 34th street is easily the best Christmas film!
