10 Books To Put On Your Christmas List

So we're now less than one month away from Christmas - how did that happen?! I've got a gigantic gift guide coming your way soon, but today I thought I'd share a list of 10 books to put on your Christmas list. Books are my favourite thing to give and receive, and all of these ones are pretty bloody great.

1) Brave Enough: A Mini Instruction Manual For The Soul - Cheryl Strayed

I think everyone needs a copy of this pocket sized book in their collection. It's filled with some of Strayed's best quotes on love, life and loss - I find it really inspiring to dip into every now and then.

2) Lost in Translation: An Illustrated Compendium of Untranslatable Words - Ella Frances Saunders

Sam bought me this book for Christmas last year and I fell in love with it. It's filled with words that can't be translated to other languages - in fact, it was the first place that I learnt about the word "hygge". The illustrations in the book are SO gorgeous too.

3) Tequila Mockingbird - Tim Federle

This book is perfect for anyone who loves literature and cocktails (basically my two favourite things!). Filled with tonnes of recipes for cocktails inspired by classic books, it has all the inspiration you need for a very fun night in!

4) Read This If You Want To Take Great Photographs - Henry Carroll

This was another gift from Sam (he really is a great pressie buyer!) and I really do think it's been helping me to take better photos this year. Informative an beautifully designed, this is a perfect read if you want to learn how to use your camera better.

5) The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F**k - Sarah Knight

At first I thought this was just a spoof on the cult Marie Kondo book, but it actually has a lot of great advice to offer. If you're someone who struggles with feeling guilty or worrying about everything, this is definitely a book for you.

6) Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear - Elizabeth Gilbert

I don't think I've ever come across anyone who has read this book and not thought it was a total work of genius. If you are trying to pursue creativity in any area of your life then you're bound to find this useful and inspiring.

7) Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun and Be Your Own Person - Shonda Rhimes

Written by the creator of Grey's Anatomy and Scandal, this book is all about how saying yes more can totally transform your life. There are similar books on the market, but Shonda's warm personality and writing style makes this one pretty special.

8) Bloom: navigating life and style - Estée Lalonde

I wrote a review of this book not too long ago, but if you haven't read it it's definitely one to add to your list! The writing is raw and honest, the photography is beautiful and the styling makes it a very pretty book to have on your coffee table.

9) Humans of New York - Brandon Stanton

This book is inspired by the incredible blog of the same name. Filled with beautiful portraits and moving stories, this is the sort of book that you can get lost in for hours on a Sunday afternoon.

10) Letters of Note: Correspondence Deserving of a Wider Audience - Shaun Usher

This beautiful book is a collection of over 100 of the world's most unusual and entertaining letters, including Queen Elizabeth II's recipe for drop scones and Virginia Woof's heartbreaking suicide letter. It makes such an interesting read and I love picking it up for inspiration when I have writer's block.

Do you have any books that I should add to my Christmas list?
