Happy Saturday lovelies! I’m coming to you today with another wedding talk post from a very stressed out bride. I’m hoping I can spend this weekend getting lots of sorting done so that I can enjoy the last few weeks without a gigantic to do list hanging over my head!

Which brings me on to the subject of this post –  a rundown of all the resources I’ve found useful while planning a wedding. So many people have asked me recently how we’ve been keeping on track of everything or where we’ve found our inspiration from, so I thought I’d roll it all up into a bumper post in the hope it might be useful for someone!

Blogs

So let’s start with the inspiration, shall we? Obviously as a blogger, my first port of call when it came to finding some ideas and inspo was wedding blogs. Here’s a low down of my absolute faves…

We’ll start with my all time fave – the glorious Love My Dress! Their wedding features are just the absolute best (I won’t deny that I have a secret hope that ours will be featured on there one day!) and their supplier Little Black Book is super useful. The best thing of all though is their private Facebook group for brides to be, which has been the most incredible source of support and inspiration in the past few months.

Other great blogs include Boho WeddingsWhimsical Wonderland Weddings and Rock My Wedding – so many swoon-worthy wedding photos to drool over!

Pinterest

I’m pretty sure I’m not the only engaged lady who started pinning away within days of that ring being on my finger – it’s like a bridal rite of passage! We’ve taken so much inspiration from Pinterest, from bridesmaid outfits to bouquet ideas to DIY decor tutorials – it really is a great place to start gathering your thoughts and getting a picture of what sort of wedding you’d like. Just remember that like with any social media channel, it can be easy to get overwhelmed!

Magazines

I’ve tried to steer clear of most wedding magazines as the majority of them are just plain awful, but there’s a couple that I’ve bought religiously while we’ve planning. One is Brides magazine which is part of the Conde Nast family and is filled with some beautiful imagery and helpful features, and the other is Rock n Roll Bride, which is the gorgeous magazine version of the very popular blog.

Google Docs

So now you’ve got your ideas gathered, it’s time to get stuck into making those plans! My biggest tip here is to get everything into a master spreadsheet, with tabs for guest list, budgets, supplier contacts, etc. To make life even easier for yourself, create your spreadsheet on Google docs – that way you’ll always have access to the latest version and you can share it with other people easily. This has been a life saver in the last few weeks as we get closer to the big day and want to share all the details with our parents and the wedding planner.

Asana

Another invaluable online resource is Asana – I’ve literally just discovered this in the past few weeks and I am freaking OBSESSED. It’s essentially a tool for managing your to do list, but you can break the lists down into separate projects and assign tasks to different people. You can use it on desktop but there’s also an app which means you can add things quickly and easily whenever you remember something. I am now totally hooked on checking things off our lists!

And the rest…

The other websites we’ve used and had a great experience of are Dafont (super useful if you’re a DIY bride!), Prezola (handy if you don’t want a traditional gift list) and The Knot (a really easy place to put a wedding website together).

So there you have it – the resources that have helped keep me inspired (and sane!) over the last couple of months. Do you have any others that I should put on the list?

  • Haha you’re not the only engaged lady to create a Pinterest board AFTER getting engaged?! I’m pretty sure my board “Marry…” has been the most active on my Pinterest forever, both from when I was single to now, and though closer to being married than before, still not even yet engaged! 😉 I just love weddings and the wedding aesthetics, so I find myself pinning to that board far more than any other!
