10 favourites this week (#3)
Afternoon everybody. How are you all? I must admit that I'm feeling a bit sleepy with it being the first day back at work and all, I am so excited to get back into a routine! The past two weeks have been brilliant but I do love getting back to it. Anyway, here are 10 things that have been making me smile this past week:
1) Bringing in a new year with all my lovely friends
I couldn't really have done this post without mentioning the new year - we celebrated with all of our friends at the Brudenell Social Club where my other half did a great Johnny Cash tribute act. It was loads of fun and a fitting way to see out a brilliant 2014.
2) Getting into Homeland
We started watching series 1 of Homeland on Friday. I know, I know, I'm only about 4 years behind, but I am OBSESSED. Like "I just can't wait to get home from work and watch some more" obsessed.
3) A sunny day out
It was lovely and sunny here yesterday and so we hopped on the train to Hebden Bridge for a little day out. I am going to do a post about it later in the week, but it was lovely to get out and enjoy the sunshine exploring such a quaint place. I want to do more of this in 2015 - living in Leeds we are very well positioned for these sorts of little trips.
4) Breakfast in bed
On Saturday morning I awoke to the smell of bacon drifting its way upstairs as my wonderful mister made me breakfast in bed. It was so nice to not to rush up - is there anything more indulgent than eating in bed?
5) Making plans
I've got to admit that I'm an absolute Christmas nut, but one of the things I love about January is that there are less things booked in the diary, leaving weekends and evenings free to book in fun things. At the moment we have a trip to Anglesey planned and a couple of gigs, and I'm excited to see what else we add in the next few weeks.
6) New stationery
It's no secret that I am an absolute stationery addict and it made me very happy to open my new diary and notebook this morning. Did anybody else geek out over this this morning? New year, fresh pages and all that...
7) Eating vegetables again!
I know it sounds like a total cliché but after surviving on pretty much cheese and chocolate alone over the past 2 weeks, it has been really refreshing to get back to some healthy, tasty food over the past few days. My poor skin feels a million times better already.
8) All my new Christmas smellies
I was totally spoiled at Christmas with loads of Clinique, Soap and Glory and Lush goodies and it has been so nice to have some time to pamper myself. Hoping to be a smooth skinned goddess by February... a girl can dream...
9) Feeling swish in my new leather skirt
Just before Christmas I treated myself to a new real leather A-line skirt from Asos which was an absolute steal at half price. It feels like a real investment piece, and it's also the perfect balance between stylish and professional, making it perfect for work.
10) Having fresh flowers on my coffee table again
I was totally miffed about having to take my Christmas decorations down. They made my living room look so cosy and festive and it looked all bare once they were gone. However, I bought a big bunch of carnations and gypsophila to put in my favourite vase and they're making me feel better already!
What's made you smile this week?
