10 favourites this week (#17)
How is it Monday again already?! I had a lovely weekend but it was super busy, and I felt like one minute it was Friday night and the next thing I knew my alarm was going off this morning. I think the long weekend last week might have spoiled me a little bit…
1) Sunny lunch time walks
I’m pretty naff at leaving my desk at lunch time – I’m usually guilty of being that person who scoffs a jacket potato whilst trying to type at the same time. But since the weather has been so lovely, I’ve been making the effort to get up and go for a quick ten minute stroll in the sunshine and it’s been SO NICE. Yay for vitamin D levels being restored!
2) Buskers on the Briggate in Leeds
I was hop-footing it up Briggate on evening last week to meet my friend for dinner – the sun was beaming down and one of the buskers was playing Sitting on the Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding. It was the perfect song for the weather and put me in such a cheery little mood – even though it was stuck in my head for the rest of the evening!
3) Sunset runs
Is it just me or is it MUCH easier to get motivated to exercise when the suns out? I enjoyed a couple of sunset runs down the canal last week, and even though I am SO unfit after some time off, it’s been nice to get back out in the fresh air again.
4) Drunk bowling
We went to Roxy Lanes on Saturday night for a friend’s birthday and it was so much fun!!! Turns out I’m way better at bowling when I’ve had a few beers – I even got two strikes, which for a bowling novice like myself was a big achievement! I’m already planning my next visit.
5) Belgrave Music Hall roof terrace
I had my first pint of cider on the roof terrace at Belgrave last week and it was just perfect. I’m so happy that I work in town now so I can take advantage of sunny outdoor drinks after work! Let’s hope we get a decent summer…
6) A Turkish feast
Sam’s parents came to visit us last week and we took them to Ephesus, which is a Turkish restaurant in Rodley where we live. If you live in Leeds and haven’t been before I urge you to visit! It’s so delicious and authentic, and the service is amazing – independent dining at it’s finest.
Big is one of my fave films EVER so I was so happy when I realised it was on TV yesterday! It’s such an 80s classic and even though I’ve seen it so many times I still love it. It did give me intense New York cravings though… I desperately want to go back.
8) Renewed focus
Over the past few weeks I have been feeling re-inspired and so motivated and I thing a huge part of this has been down to really focussing on what I want and where I want to get to at work. It has made me feel so much more productive and creative – here’s hoping the feeling lasts!
9) Friday bubbles
On Friday we chilled out at home and opened a bottle of bubbles whilst watching trashy TV. It was so fun to just hang out, laugh along with Gogglebox and drink something yummy – sometimes you don’t need anything particular to celebrate, it’s just nice to raise a little toast to all the good things going on.
10) Baby shower fun
It was my friend’s baby shower yesterday and it was so nice to catch up with friends I don’t get to see as much as I’d like, playing lots of baby-themed games (including a gross one that involved baby food!) and spoiling the lovely Mum-to-be. I can’t believe that next time I see her she’ll be cradling her little one!
What’s been making you smile this week?
