10 favourites this week (#25)

cornetto summer There's been a few things that haven't gone to plan this week - we had to pull out of our house purchase (super sad face), I dropped my iPhone and smashed it to bits, and I've had some really stressful meetings at work.

Despite all that, I woke up today feeling like a pretty lucky lady - while things may not always be perfect, I know that I am reallyyyyyyy lucky, and I have actually had a very happy smiley week. Here are my 10 favourites this week - including lots and lots of food, sunshine and a bit of a makeover!

1) Midweek roast chicken

Because why should something as yum as roast chicken be saved for a weekend?! We've become obsessed with a roast chicken and sweet potato wedges recipe from Madeleine Shaw's Get the Glow book and it's honestly one of my new favourite teas. So easy to throw together, and tastes like it definitely takes more than 15 minutes to prepare...

2) Team night out to The Pit

Our lovely intern is leaving us next week, so we decided to have one last final hang out as a team at The Pit. We ate delicious BBQ meats, listened to a really good playlist and chatted about everything and anything. I am very lucky that I get to work with such a lovely bunch of people everyday!

3) Doing some holiday research

We decided that after having to pull out of buying a house that we really deserved a bloody good holiday, and I have spent a large part of this week researching different places we could go. Am I the only one who things researching holidays is SO FUN?! If you have any recommendations for ace places to go in September, please shout!

4) Having a good week at work

Things are really ramping up at work - I'm busier than I've been in a long time, but I'm also feeling better at my job than I ever have before. I think work is so much more enjoyable when you know that you're adding value and generally doing a really bloody good job - long may this feeling last!

5) Becoming a blondie

I jokingly suggested that I might like to go a bit blonder to my cousin Redmond who does my hair for me - 3 hours later and I was looking in the mirror as practically a full blondie! I have had dark hair for my whole life so it's a huge change but I LOVE IT! A huge thank you to Red - I seriously wouldn't trust anyone else to come near my hair.

6) Friday night ChineseĀ

Last week was a long one, and I was SO GLAD to get home to my Mum and Dad's on Friday night. I was even more glad when my Mum told me she'd ordered Chinese for tea! I have never had a Chinese takeaway as good as my parents' local so it's always a very delicious and indulgent treat.

7) This week's episode of Game of Thrones

I hate to admit it, but I've been finding this season of Game of Thrones a little bit slow. Not this week though - I was literally sat on the edge of my sofa watching the episode unfold, and it wasn't until it finished that I realised I'd been holding my breath the whole time. I am already desperate to watch tonight's episode! Did you all think it was a good'un too?

8) Cuddles with all my favourite little people

I don't get to see the kids in our family often enough, but after a big scare this week when my cousin's baby took a tumble I was sooooo glad to give them all a squeeze this weekend. They are all so funny and unique - I love all the hilarious questions they ask and the quirky little faces they pull. You can't feel anything but happy after spending a bit of time with them.

9) Getting an invite to the next The City Girls event

I have read so many amazing reviews of the The City Girls launch event in Sheffield, so I was SO excited to get an invite to their Leeds event next month. I'm really looking forward to meeting lots of other Yorkshire bloggers and working with some amazing brands - hurry up July!

10) An afternoon in the sunshine

The weather was fab yesterday afternoon, so I spent most of it in my Mum and Dad's garden, drinking prosecco and putting the world to rights with my Mum and sis. Why does everything feel SOOOO much better in the sunshine? I swear I would be permanently happy if it was always above 18 degrees...
