#TheCityGirls Leeds Bloggers Event
On Saturday I was one of the lucky Leeds bloggers who was invited to #TheCityGirls event. After seeing all of the posts from the girls who had attended the Sheffield launch event I was SO excited to see what Lorna and Holly had in store for us - and we were certainly not disappointed! I got up early to make sure I had plenty of time to pamper and preen before heading into town to meet the lovely Bee. We decided to meet up beforehand to take some outfit pictures for each other - cue us both giggling like idiots as onlookers stared at us in a confused manner. Oh the glamour...
Once we both had a suitable amount of photos we mooched on down to the venue to meet the other bloggers. The event was held at The Liquorist on Greek Street - it was my first visit since it opened a month or so ago and I was SO impressed! The decor was absolutely beautiful and I just couldn't stop snapping all of the little details - thankfully everyone else was doing the same so I didn't look too weird!
Despite it having only just passed 12pm (and the fact that I hadn't had any breakfast!) we decided it would be rude to be in such a lovely bar and not have a cocktail! It took me ages to decide which one to go for - their menu is so long and full of yum sounding drinks - but I finally opted for a Rumberry Mojito. It was delicious and served in the most gorgeous crystal glass - I will definitely be back soon to try some of their other options.
Once we had all had a chance to mingle and introduce ourselves it was time for us to head upstairs where the real fun began! Holly and Lorna kicked the event off with a little talk about why they got into blogging and what they wanted to achieve from #TheCityGirls events. They were both so warm and friendly, and their passion for the brands and bloggers was infectious.
Before they let us loose on the brands and products they had in store for us, Suzie from Leeds Womens Aid gave a thoroughly inspiring talk about the charity and the work they do. I really love that the girls choose a local charity to support at each of their events and Leeds Womens Aid really was a fantastic choice. They provide refuge and support to women and children experiencing domestic abuse in the Leeds area and do a bloody fantastic job, so it was lovely to hear more about their work and also to raise some much deserved cash for them with the raffle (which had some amazing prizes!).
It was then time for us all to get chatting to the brands, of which there were many! I made a beeline for The Body Shop as I've always loved their products so I was excited to see what they had on show. They had some samples of their new Italian Summer Fig range with them which smelt AMAZING - exactly like summer holidays! It's available in stores as of July 21st I believe and I will definitely be popping in to pick up the body butter in this fragrance.
Dotted all around the room were lots of lovely treats for us to pick up, like these candles from Twig and Dot and those amazing red nail varnishes from Angelica (totally the perfect shade for summer!)
There were also refreshements in the form of DELICIOUS strawberry cupcakes and these trendy bottles of Voss water (which I've been carrying around with my everywhere since Saturday) - the girls had really thought about everything!
Next up I stopped to chat with the lovely Chloe from Kendelle - I'd never heard of this brand before but that gorgeous leaf print definitely caught my attention! It was really nice to discover a new local business to support and some of their items are just gorgeous - I'm already eyeing up the shorts for my holidays...
There was also the offer of a free manicure for every blogger - Ivy had a little booth and was working her magic giving everyone pretty talons! Unfortunately I didn't get chance to have mine done but it was so cool to have a little salon feel and she had worked up some fab designs with a #TheCityGirls theme.
We also had the opportunity to network with some PRs - including Ellie from Good Relations and Zack from Exposure Ninja. As a relatively new blogger I found this invaluable - it can be really difficult to know how to approach brands and PRs when you're first starting out, so having the opportunity to chat to them in a relaxed and informal environment was brill. Just another thing that proves Holly and Lorna really had covered EVERYTHING a blogger could want from an event...
Which leads me nicely on to the AMAZING goodie bags we were presented with as we left - these little babies deserve a post all of their own (in fact, I'm not even sure I can do all of the goodies justice in one post there were that many!). This was just the icing on the cake of what was a truly fab afternoon - the attention to detail was second to none and everyone was walking round the room with the biggest grin on their face.
I feel truly spoiled that the girls invited me along to such a great event - I want to spend all Saturday afternoons hanging out with bloggers, chatting to amazing brands and being lavished with treats and I'm sure everyone else who attended will feel the same! Another HUGE thank you to Lorna and Holly and a massive well done too - these kickass ladies are showing just what you can achieve when you have a good idea and a shedload of determination. World domination will be theirs soon, I'm sure.
Make sure you keep your eyes peeled on Twitter for #TheCityGirls events coming to your city - you won't regret it!
