10 favourites this week (#40)

one world observatort new york It feels so weird that this time last week we were still in New York. It's been such a whirlwind couple of days and it already feels like our holiday was another lifetime ago!

Its been so lovely coming home though - here are my 10 favourites this week...

1) Enjoying the view from the One World Observatory

The One World Trade Center is now the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere and the views over Manhattan and Brooklyn were INSANE. Having a glass of prosecco in the bar at the top was a definite holiday highlight!

2) Ending our holiday in style

We spent our last few days eating burgers, soaking up the sunshine and enjoying many a drink on rooftop bars. It was so perfect to have a few days of calm just Sam and I before the madness of getting home and getting back to work.

3) A good old dose of New York shopping

I am going to be very poor for the forseeable future but I now have so many Essie nail varnishes and Sephora goodies and jazzy notebooks that I don't even mind! I absolutely LOVE shopping in New York (well, who doesn't?!), especially for beauty bits that are way more expensive here.

4) Sharing our good news with everyone

We announced our engagement to everyone on the last day of our holiday and definitely made coming home so much easier! Reading everyones lovely comments and texts while we sat in the airport was one of the nicest things ever - we literally couldn't stop smiling! Thank you to everyone who has sent us warm wishes - they have made our week.

5) Celebrating our engagement with our family and friends

It's been so lovely seeing our family and friends and re-telling the story of how Sam proposed and showing off my ring. I don't think I've ever had so many hugs or drank so many bubbles in such a short space of time - and we still have lots more celebrations to come! I keep asking Sam if we can get engaged on every holiday, but I don't think he's keen...

6) Coming home to proper autumn

With proper falling leaves and fresh air and dark nights. Autumn is my absolute favourite season so I'm happy to embrace it (coats and all) now we're home.

7) Getting totally and utterly spoilt

engagement cupcakes

We have been SO totally spoilt by our lovely family and friends. We've been given beautiful flowers, engagement cupcakes, personalised prints, wedding stationery and more fizz than I think we will ever manage to drink - all of it was totally unexpected and beyond generous and we feel very, very lucky.

8) Having some quiet time to reflect on our amazing trip

It's been nice to spend some time this weekend properly reflecting back on the past couple of weeks - it has all felt a bit surreal and the time we spent in Iceland feels like a total lifetime ago so talking about everything we got up to and remembering how exciting it all was has been really fun.

9) Making an epic chicken parm

I used this recipe and it was Sunday comfort food at it's finest. It was a pretty delicious last supper before we get back on our health kick tomorrow - we have the Nutri-Bullet set up and ready to go!

10) A totally chilled out weekend

I've barely gone over the door since Friday night but it has been perfect. I had quite bad jet lag when we got home and after a few busy days at work I was totally ready to just veg out. I completely indulged myself with new PJs and magazines and afternoon naps and it was EPIC.
