10 favourites this week (#43)

liberty london flowers Good morning everyone! How are you all today? I can't believe it's Monday again already - there are only 9 more Mondays to Christmas now, how crazy is that?!

Last week was one of those crazy ones - packed full to the rafters with work stuff and fun times that left me napping on the couch for almost the entirety of Saturday... whoopsie!

Here are my 10 favourites this week...

1) A party at Madame Tussaud's

I got to go to a party at Madame Tussaud's this week for work and it was so much fun! I'd never been before, but we got to check out all the different areas, including the new Star Wars section, which was super cool. It was quite surreal to be drinking wine amongst the royals, Tom Cruise and Kimmy K - definitely more entertaining than your usual Tuesday evening!

2) A great week of work in London

I always love spending time down south with my London colleagues and this week saw me spending 3 days down in the capital. I had a lot of great meetings and got so much done - I work in a satellite office where there are only 5 of us, so it's really nice to be reminded that I'm part of a much bigger team and lots of exciting projects.

3) These new Primark boots

I really didn't need a new pair of ankle boots, but when I saw these fringed beauties in Primark for a mere £20 I couldn't leave them on the shelf! They are so comfy and look way more expensive than they were - I'm very tempted to go back and buy them in black too when I get paid this week.

4) Trying out Tharavadu

I've been wanting to try this South Indian restaurant for months, so I was chuffed when my friend booked it for his birthday meal this week. It was so nice to catch up with our lovely pals over a delicious feast of curries, breads and rice, and of course a beer or two to toast Dan's birthday! I would definitely recommend it if you're based in Leeds.

5) A fab night in Didsbury with Jess

My lovely friend Jess moved to Manchester a couple of weeks ago, so on Friday I headed across the Pennines to check out her new pad and catch up after our busy summers. We headed into West Didsbury for some dinner and drinks I had such a fun time - hanging out with old friends is the best, isn't it?

6) The Simple Things magazine

I've mentioned this little gem before, but this autumnal edition was just too lovely not to include here. I feel like The Simple Things is a real revelation in the print industry - a magazine totally devoted to slow living and the art of living well. Definitely one to pick up if you're feeling a bit flustered or in a rut.

7) Bridget Jones's Diary

Thank you ITV2 for scheduling the perfect Saturday night film! I'd forgotten how much I loved this gem of a film - isn't it amazing that it still feels as relevant in 2015 as it did in 2001? It made me very excited for Bridget Jone's Baby which is due to be released in 2016 - I can't wait to see what more giggles are in store for us!

8) Home cooked beef bourguignon

There's something about this time of year that makes me crave rich, tasty comfort food, and plenty of it. So on Saturday morning I popped all of the ingredients for beef bourguignon in the slow cooker and left it stewing for almost 7 hours. The result was delicious, melt in your mouth meat and a divine smell wafting around my house! Even more exciting was that we had leftovers to pop in the freezer for another yummy serving this week.

9) Catching up on Homeland

For some reason we never made it right the way through season 4 of Homeland, so we still had about 6 or 7 episodes to catch up on. Thankfully Netflix sent me a handy reminder to let me know that they had new episodes and we spent all of Sunday afternoon perched at the edge of our sofa as we watched the drama unravel!

10) Getting over excited by the arrival of Christmas shops

The ones in Liberty and Selfridges *may* have made me squeal with glee... I feel like autumn has massively snuck up on me this year (normally I'm counting down to Christmas from around July time...) and so seeing all of the twinkly lights and decorations and remembering that my favourite time of year isn't so far away made me VERY happy. Is it too early to crack out Elf...?

What's been making you smile this week? I'd love to hear!
