10 favourites this week (#44)
Happy Monday folks! Is it just me or does it feel like it was half 5 on Friday like two hours ago...? I suppose that's the sign of a good weekend, but I am definitely going to need many, many cups of tea today!
The last 7 days have been filled with lots of loveliness - here are my 10 favourites this week...
1) Cocktails and a Mexican feast
On Monday after I work I headed to meet up with some old work friends that I haven't seen for a while. We drank yummy cocktails at The Alchemist and ate an absolute FEAST of Mexican food at Cielo Blanco while we all caught up - it was basically like the best start to the week EVER.
2) An epic Primark haul
It was my payday this week and so I headed up to Primark for a couple of winter essentials. That place never fails to amaze me - I got a gorgeous big coat, a pair of boots, a handbag, a hat and a pair of gloves for £63!!! Yes you read that right. I'm super in love with my new coat too and have worn it every day since purchase!
3) Getting back in to reading
At the beginning of this year I was whipping through 4 or 5 books a month, but recently it's been more like 1 or 2 at a push. But this week I've really gotten back into reading and managed to read 2 in 7 days! I find it helps me switch off and relax so much effectively than watching TV, so I'm hoping my recent enthusiasm sticks around.
4) Back to the Future pizza party
In case you were living under a rock (or don't have Twitter), Wednesday marked the official Back to the Future day (the day that Marty and Doc time travel to in the second movie). To celebrate, Sam and I got the DVDs out, put the duvet on the sofa and ate pizza. It was great.
5) My Dad's lamb stew
My Mum and Dad have just got back from spending a week in sunny Turkey (lucky devils) and my Dad recreated one of the dishes they had there for me on Friday. It was a delicious lamb stew in a rich sauce, topped with cheese - just as delicious on a cold October Friday as I imagine it was in the sun!
6) Booking flights to Oslo
We decided that we really wanted to try and squeeze in one last little trip for the year is over and the real wedding saving begins and we managed to find some super cheap flights for a Christmassy weekend in Oslo in December. I already know that it will deepen my new found love for Scandi city breaks - if you've been before or have any tips please let me know!
7) Going to my first wedding fair
On Saturday, me, my Mum and my sister headed into Manchester for The National Wedding Show. It wasn't quite my style so we didn't get tonnes of ideas, but it was nice to think about what we might like and it was a good excuse to pop open the Prosecco! Plus we got a TONNE of free wedding magazines that will keep me entertained for weeks...
Yep, more Mexican food! I am so excited that we finally have a Wahaca in the north - it's always been one of my fave places to go when I'm down in London and now I can get my taco fix just across the Pennines in Manchester. Sam and my Dad joined us for a serious amount of street food and a round of 5pm tequilas and it was ace.
9) Going for my first run in months
I can't say that this was one of my favourites at the time while I was trying to convince myself that I probably wasn't having a heart attack, but getting out in the fresh air and getting my legs ticking over again put me in a lovely mood afterwards. And the first one is always the hardest, right?!
10) A super productive Sunday
Yesterday I cleaned, washed, shopped and batch cooked to my hearts content, which sounds ever so boring, but it made me feel really good. It's been ages since I've felt organised and ready to take on the week on a Monday morning, but a few hours of prep yesterday has helped me feel that way today.
