Review: Brunch at Ox Club, Leeds
So learning that Headrow House had opened up a new restaurant with a dedicated brunch menu was music to my ears. And then when I actually checked out what was on the menu, I knew I had to visit immediately.
The restaurant itself is quite cosy and intimate, with an open kitchen and stripped back, industrial style decor. We were seated quickly (we actually got to join two other lovely Leeds bloggers - Jenna and Carrieanne) and were brought a couple of glasses of Bucks Fizz and some menus.
Deciding what to order was HARD. Everything looked totally delicious, and there were some really unique options, like Korean Fried Chicken and Brunch Cassoulet. In the end I settled for Flat Iron Steak & Cheddar Eggs, and Bee opted for the Ox Club Breakfast (with a side of extra bacon of course!). And it wouldn't be brunch without a round of tea, would it? How cute are those teeny tiny milk bottles please?!
We were both very happy with our choices - the home fries were a particular highlight for us both! My steak was cooked perfectly and there was plenty of it, and the cheddar eggs were just TO DIE FOR. I swear there was a whole block of cheddar in those bad boys (which is probably now residing on my upper thighs, but it was worth it!). The smoked tomato jam was the perfect accompaniment, and really lifted the whole dish.
We were both pretty full after devouring our respective dishes, but there was no way we could resist ordering a serving of the ricotta pancakes to share. They were topped with bluberries, honey, creme fraiche and honeycomb and were basically the best pancakes I've ever eaten. I know that's a bold statement to make, but trust me when I say it's a title well deserved. They were so good that Bee and I were both messaging each other about them the next day!
We both throroughly enjoyed our visit to Ox Club - the atmosphere was relaxed, the food was amazing and the service was pretty great too. I'm already trying to convince Sam that we need to visit again ASAP and I'm confident it will be our new firm favourite.
And just in case you needed any more convincing to go and check it out, a little birdie told me that there is 50% off between now and Christmas!
