My word for the year
I wrote here a couple of week backs about how I wasn't setting any big lists of resolutions this year. However, after reading Sophie's post last week, I have been toying with the concept of setting a word for the year.
I like that choosing a word to live your year by gives you more freedom than setting lofty goals or ambitious resolutions. A word can take on new perspective and shape as the year goes on, as situations change, as you learn more about yourself. But it still keeps you anchored to a broader theme, which can help when making decisions, both big and small.
I've been thinking a lot about what my chosen word should be for 2016. It's going to be a big year - what with wedding planning and a new house and some pretty exciting adventures to be had - and I really wanted to choose a word that would be fitting for all of my plans.
I've settled on create. It actually sums up quite nicely the essence of everything I want to achieve this year. I want to create a beautiful home for us to come home to after our exciting travels. I want to create a wedding that truly reflects me and Sam, rather than conforming to the traditional expectations.
I want to create content for this blog that makes me proud. I want to see what opportunities I can create for myself as a result. I want to keep learning new crafts and jewellery techniques so that I can create pretty pieces to share with my family and friends.
I want to create a healthier lifestyle and mindset for myself so that I have the energy to do all of things I want to do. I want to create future plans that make me feel all fizzy with excitement.
I just want to keep going and doing and making and creating in every possible way that I can and see what opportunities come my way as a result. It's often said that the universe favours action over thought, and that will be my mantra this year. You get out what you give, so just keep creating and see what happens.
What do you think? Have you got a word for the year?
