My 2016 travel plans
2015 saw me travel more than I ever have done before (you can read more about where I went here) and it definitely intensified my wanderlust! I truly think that travel is THE best thing you can spend your money on, which is why I am planning to do even more of it this year.
We have got quite a few trips booked already, and a few more in the works, so I thought I'd do a little round up of my 2016 travel plans for you...
Our first trip abroad will be a long weekend away in Copenhagen in March. After visiting Oslo and Iceland last year, we have developed a little bit of a Scandinavian obsession, and I can't wait to tick another Scandi destination of our list. We have got 4 full days in the city, so I'm hoping we'll have enough time to see all of the big sights, as well as exploring some of Copenhagen's trendy districts. We're also planning to hop on the train to Malmo for the day - I've never been to Sweden before so I'm really looking forward to that!
Last week we also booked a little weekend break to Milan at the start of May. I've only ever visited Italy once which was for my cousin's wedding in Lake Como a few years ago, so I'm excited to explore an Italian city, especially one that is a fashion capital! We're planning on indulging in a lot of pizza and gelato, visiting the Duomo and checking out some of the museums. Hopefully we'll blessed with a little bit of early summer sunshine too!
In August we are heading off on a summer holiday with my entire family and I can't wait! We are going to Sils in Girona and we have a gigantic villa, complete with private swimming pool, football fields, a park and a games room. I'm mostly looking forward to relaxing and spending time with my family, but it's also pretty close to Barcelona, so Sam and I are also planning to spend a day there. It's one of our favourite cities and we have done most of the big sights there now, so it'll be nice to just potter around and indulge in some tapas and Estrella.
Kuala Lumpur, Melbourne and Sydney
Our big trip this year will be an epic adventure to the other side of the world. Our friends Steph and Seb moved to Sydney last year and we are currently organising a group holiday to go and visit them in October. We will all spend a week in Sydney together, and Sam and I are also planning to visit Melbourne while we're in Aus too, as it looks so cool! We're also planning to break up the flight with a few days in Kuala Lumpur on the way there and back - Sam has never been to Asia before and I have only been to HK and China so it will be something completely new for us both. There is so much I want to fit into this trip, but by far the best bit will be seeing our friends and checking out their new stomping ground.
Closer to home
Sam and I have also committed to spend more time doing some local travel in the UK this year - there are so many gorgeous places on our doorstep. We'll be travelling to Anglesey quite a bit as we get stuck into wedding planning, and we also have a weekend in London planned in February. I'd also love to check out Oxford and Cambridge, and as I've never been to Ireland, maybe a little trip to Dublin!
What are your travel plans for this year? Do you have any tips or recommendations for the places on my list?
