Cooking the globe with Kitchen Trotter
Anybody who knows me knows that my two greatest pleasures in life are food and travel - preferably enjoyed at the same time. So you can imagine how excited I was when I received this gorgeous package from Kitchen Trotter - a kit containing all of the ingredients to rustle up delicious meals from an exotic destination that I've been itching to travel to!
The idea is simple (just like all the best ones are) - every month the folk over at Kitchen Trotter choose a culinary destination, create some tasty recipes, source some authentic ingredients and package them up in beautiful boxes ready to be posted out. Subscription boxes are nothing new, but this one has a delicious twist that will have every gourmet traveller filled with excitement.
This month's destination was Indonesia, but previous kits have focussed on Brazil, Egypt, Spain and Japan. The box comes with a handy little booklet that provides some information on the destination, a menu and all the recipes you need to cook the dishes on the menu.
The menu contains four different dishes and the recipes are very detailed and easy to follow. My favourite thing about the kits is how authentic they are - I'd never heard of most of the ingredients provided, and certainly would have struggled to find them in our local supermarkets. It gave me confidence that the recipes and dishes are very true to that month's destination, and it allows you to have a little taste of a new place without the very expensive plane ticket.
If like me, your favourite part of travelling to new places is experiencing the local cuisine, then these kits are perfect for you. There such a fab way of mixing up the mundane midweek meals and injecting a bit of that inspiration you get when returning from a holiday. Or even better you could try the recipes for dinner parties and impress all of your friends with how cultured you are...
If you fancy having some delicious inspiration delivered to your door every month then you can subscribe here. And even better, the lovely folk at Kitchen Trotter have kindly given me a discount code to share with you all - if you enter "food4all" you'll save a whopping £15 on your order!
*This box was gifted to me in exchange for a review, but as ever, if I didn't love it, I wouldn't blog about it!
