The National Wedding Show with Debenhams
I'm really loving writing wedding related posts! Especially at the moment when about 97.7% of my brain is occupied with thoughts of carpets and Polyfilla and packing and transferring all of our correspondence to our new address. It feels like we haven't really had much time to sit down and think about wedding planning too much, so today I thought I'd give you a little insight into a girly day out that I had with my Mum and my sister a few weeks back.
When Debenhams got in touch to see if I would like to attend The National Wedding Show in Manchester I said yes immediately. It was just after we had booked our venue, and I was dying to get stuck into some of the more fun details, like bridesmaid dresses and accessories and shoes - you know, all the important stuff. I also booked my first dress appointment at a nearby bridal boutique for the afternoon, so with a bit of lunch thrown in in the middle, it turned into quite the exciting day.
We kicked off the day with a glass of Prosecco while we watched the bridal catwalk. This was our first little insight into just how much wedding product Debenhams have - I am still very much a wedding novice and didn't realise that they sold dresses and bridesmaids outfits, as well as lingerie and accessories. A lot of my favourite bits in the catwalk were from Debenhams, so we made a beeline straight to their gigantic stand as soon as it was finished.
Debenhams sell some really beautiful wedding dresses and also have a full complement for guests and mother of the bride/groom, but the things that got me most excited where their accessories and bridesmaid options.
I have 7 (!) fabulous bridesmaids and we've been starting to think about what they might wear, but visiting the Debenhams stand gave me SO many ideas. First up were these gorgeous tops and skirts from Coast - aren't they just GORGEOUS? I really like the idea of having the bridesmaids in separates - that way they can be tailored to each lovely lady and their style/figure. I'm borderline obsessed with this skirt and top combo also - so many options!
The other bridesmaid option that got us quite excited was these gorgeous multiway dresses. My bridesmaids are all different heights and shapes and sizes, so the fact that these dresses can be tied and styled in so many different ways means that they could be an option that works for everyone. Debenhams also stock them in so many different colours too, so they can be tied into a variety of wedding themes. We really loved them and I definitely think they will be a strong contender!
The other thing that got me quite excited at the Debenhams stand was their fab range of bridal accessories. I immediately fell in love with this Bride clutch bag (NEED!!!) and after browsing the website when I got home, I also discovered that they have a gorgeous range of Jenny Packham hair accessories - this pretty flower comb is my favourite. In fact it's so pretty that I want to buy it to wear to a family wedding next month!
Another decent find was probably something that I more naturally associate with Debenhams - lingerie! I buy a lot of my underwear there anyway (they are great if you have a bigger bust that can be difficult to cater for!) so I knew that their bridal range would be a good'un. My favourite was this pretty Ted Baker set - there are lots of options of bras and knicks in the same style, which mean that you can really tailor it to fit perfectly under your chosen dress.
Last but by no means least were these pretty cover ups! I really want something like this to wear in the morning while I'm getting ready - I don't want any photos in my old Primark PJs, that's for sure. I also really like the idea of getting matching ones like these for my bridesmaids to wear too - I think it would be gorgeous to get some relaxed photos of us in them before we're all dolled up ready for the big day.
I was massively surprised by how much wedding related product Debenhams have (and how much cheaper a lot of it is compared to specific bridal shops!). It's all so pretty and on trend - I'll definitely be keeping an eye on their wedding page in the next couple of months to see what else comes through...
