RECIPE: Manuka Honey Smoothie
You guys all know that I'm a big fan of my green juices and smoothies - I have one pretty much every day, and as much as I love them I have been craving something a little different. So when the guys at Holland and Barrett challenged me to whip up a new smoothie recipe including Manuka Honey I thought it might be about time to add some variety...
I've heard so much about how good Manuka Honey is for you and now that I can have natural sugars in my diet again, I know it will be a really good way of getting a healthy sweet fix. It's cited as one of nature's most versatile ingredients and has been used medicinally for a long time - apparently lots of singers drink it as it's one of the best things for sore throats! It's also great for keeping a healthy immune system, so when paired with the other vitamin C filled ingredients in this smoothie it would make a perfect cold and flu remedy...
INGREDIENTS (for one large smoothie)
- 1 whole carrot, washed but not peeled
- 1 whole orange, peeled
- 1 tablespoon of Manuka Honey
- 1 small piece of ginger
- juice from 1/2 a lime
- 1 cup ice
- 1 cup water
- Put all ingredients into a blender (I used our NutriBullet) and whizz until combined and smooth
- Pour into a glass, add a jazzy straw and enjoy!
It's honestly so delicious and refreshing! Plus I love knowing that my body is getting a huge vitamin hit at the same time. I can't wait for the weather to warm up a little bit so I can enjoy these for breakfast while sat in the sunshine...
