Things I'm Looking Forward To This Summer

summer Is anyone else totally craving summer now? Maybe it's the ahem, erm, SNOW, that has been gracing us here in Britian the past couple of days, but I feel like summer still feels far too far away. Like seriously, the weather last night made me feel like I should be cracking the Home Alone DVD out, rather than stocking up on bikinis and sandals.

So in an attempt to reignite some sort of sunshine-y excitement, I thought I'd pull together a little list of the things I'm looking forward to this summer...

A reunion with my friend Steph

Some of you may remember that one of my besties moved to Australia in October, and in July I'll get to see her for the first time in 9 months when she visits the UK. I don't think we've never gone longer than a month at most without seeing each other since we first met nearly 8 years ago so it's felt like a long slog, but I'm SO excited for a full on bestie reunion. We're planning a spa trip, plenty of Prosecco and some well overdue catch ups and I CAN'T WAIT.

An epic family holiday

In August we're heading to Spain for a sunny week of celebrations with a huge clan of my family. It'll be our first proper family holiday since my cousin got married in Italy 3 years ago, and I'm really looking forward to spending some interrupted quality time with everyone - especially the little kiddywinks who are just so funny. We're staying in Sils which is pretty close to Barcelona, so I'm sure that Sam and I will also try and squeeze in a day trip to one of our favourite cities.

Revisiting our wedding venue

We haven't been back to our wedding venue since we first visited and booked it back in January, but we are planning a ocuple of visits this summer. The venue has lots of outdoor, green space and I'm really looking forward to seeing how it looks when everything is bloom as opposed to in the depths of winter. It will also be pretty exciting to envisage what it will look like when it's our turn next year - I can't believe how quickly we're approaching the one year count down!

Two Italian city breaks

I've wanted to return to Italy ever since we visited Lake Como in 2013 and I am so excited that we have two separate trips planned to this summer. We're off to Milan next weekend (send me tips please!!!) and I can't wait to explore in the sunshine and enjoy plenty of aperitivo along the canals. Then in September we are spending a long weekend in Rome - it's a city that has been on my bucket list for so so long and I can't wait to explore all of the iconic sights and landmarks.

Getting our garden sorted

I am so excited that we have our very own garden to enjoy the summer from this year! We need to do some tidying up and get some chairs and a table out there, but once we've got that sorted I know we will never be out of there. I really want to plant some pots and try growing some herbs and basic veg out there - any tips for things that can be grown in pots? (Promise I'll stop with the old lady questions now...)

Sunny walks on the canal

Last but not least is one of my favourite things to do in the summer - enjoying some sunny walks along the canal! We live right by a really pretty stretch of the Leeds Liverpool canal and I love being able to head out for a stroll in the evenings when the weather is warm. There are also plenty of good pubs along our walk and a pint in the beer garden makes it even more ace. All we need now is a puppy to take on the walks with us...

What are you looking forward to this summer?
