My current make up faves
I don't often write about beauty stuff here - I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to make up and skincare, so I prefer to leave it to the experts. However, over the past month or so I've discovered some make up bits that I am absolutely LOVING, so I thought it only fair to share them with you all. Here are my current make up faves...
The products range in price from total bargain to more mid-high end, but I genuinely think all of them are worth the money. These are all items that I'm confident I'll be reaching for again and again this summer, which is exactly what I want from any make up purchase.
Let's start with the face - I picked this Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation up at Duty Free the other week on the recommendation of my friend Sarah. I was looking for something that was light and could withstand the heat of a summer city break, but that also offered decent coverage, and this foundation was PERFECT for that. The fact that it has good SPF coverage is an added bonus, and it smells divine. It's more than I would usually pay for a foundation, but you really don't need a lot for a decent base, so I think it will last for a while.
The second face product I've been loving recently is this mattifying primer from none other than Primark. Now I wouldn't normally buy make up in Primark but I was really intrigued by their new PS Pro range and this has actually worked a treat on my oily skin during the slightly warmer days we have been having recently. It really reminds me of Benefit's POREfessional, and at a mere £5 it's definitely a more budget friendly option.
Moving onto eyes and I have a couple of products that have had me swooning recently. First up is the Above and Beyond Full Coverage concealer from NYX - I picked this up at their new stand in Boots and have been loving it. I opted for the yellowy shade as I have been getting some dark circles under my eyes recently, and this has really been helping to minimise them.
Next is the Charlotte Tilbury Full Fat Lashes mascara. My Mum actually bought me this for Christmas, but I was mid-way through a Benefit Roller Lash so I've only just got round to using this. While it doesn't offer the same lift and curl as my beloved Roller Lash, it does give a lot of volume and looks a lot more natural, so I've been loving it for a more casual day time look.
Last but not least for eyes is the Rimmel Brow This Way kit. It's only tiny but contains a brow gel and a powder, plus two little brushes that really help to get a more precise brow shape. I found it a lot easier to get a natural look with this than I do with an eyebrow pencil, and at only £3.99 it was an absolute bargain!
I love playing around with different eyeshadows but always end up coming back to my trusty Naked palettes. However, this Charlotte Tilbury palette in "The Rock Chick" is absolutely spot on for creating the perfect smokey eye for a night out. Plus it's small enough to fit in your handbag for any emergency touch ups!
Last but not least are a couple of bright additions that are perfect for summer (when it finally decides to turn up!)
First up is the Barry M Daylight Curing nail polish in "All The Thing She Red". I've been looking for a staple orange/red shade for a while and this one is so gorgeous - plus if you use it with the Sunset topcoat it makes for a real hardwearing mani - perfect if you're headed off on holiday.
Finally I have two other NYX purchases - one is one of their famous lipliners in "Summer Tease" and the other is a soft matte lip cream in "Morocco". These two shades look perfect together and I am so obsessed with the formulation of the lip cream that I'm going back to stock up on some more shades today. They feel like a very reasonable price for the quality, so I'll definitely be checking out more of the NYX stand.
What make up bits have you been buying recently? Anything you think I should try?
