What I Wore: The Boohoo Midi Dress
I'm quite safe when it comes to my fashion choices. I know what suits me and I tend to pick up similar pieces whenever I go shopping - midi skirts or dresses that nip in at the waist, skinny jeans, timeless tees and blouses. It's rare that I move away from my usual style - I know what I like and that's what I gravitate to. So when Boohoo asked me if I'd like to have a go at styling up a dress that I wouldn't lay eyes on until the delivery driver dropped it off at my door, I was apprehensive. I ummed and ahhed, but I thought it might be just the thing I needed to get me mixing it up style wise.
This dress isn't something I'd have picked for myself. Even though it ticks two big Sophie style boxes (black and midi), the dropped waist is something I'd usually steer clear from - my hips are on the wider side so I usually opt for cuts that skim over them rather than draw any attention. However, when I tried this dress on and added some of my favourite accessories, I actually really loved it.
Dress - c/o Boohoo | Denim Jacket - Primark | Shoes - ASOS | Bag - Primark | Bangle - H&M | Earrings - H&M | Sunglasses - H&M
First up I added my favourite ever holiday shoes - I bought these lace up babies from ASOS last year and I absolutely love them! They aren't the comfiest, but they look pretty so I suffer through. I also added two of my current Primark staples - the real suede fringe bag and the denim jacket. Both of these were total bargains and I have definitely had my money's worth out of them already! Then it was accessory time - the bangle, earrings and sunnies are all recent H&M buys and I think they're all just perfect for summer. And of course, no summer's evening outfit is complete without a slick of bright lippie!
