Exploring Crosby Beach
Last weekend the sun was shining and we decided to head to the beach. We were at my Mum and Dad's which is much closer to the coast than Leeds (damn you for being so land locked West Yorkshire!) and so we had our pick of where to visit. We usually go to Formby for sand dunes and pine trees, but we decided to try somewhere new so headed to Crosby beach instead. We took our family pup with us (his name is Ted and he's a Bedlington and he is just the cutest!) and headed out for a walk with my sister and her boyfriend. The weather was fab so the beach was full of families and dogs and kids - it was such a lovely summery vibe!
One of the cool things about Crosby beach is that it's home to an installation by Antony Gormley called Another Place. It consists of 100 sculptures of the artist's body which are dotted along the beach, all facing out to sea. It was really fun to walk along the beach spotting them in their many locations - although Ted was a bit confused by them!
Obviously we had to stop for an ice cream - it would be rude not to, right?! I opted for half sherbert, half sprinkles (with an added Flake of course!) and it was amazing - although I was sugar tripping for about an hour afterwards... How cute is the stripey ice cream van? Such seaside vibes!
It was such a lovely way to while away a few hours on a Sunday afternoon and it made me want to move to the seaside even more badly! One day I'd love to have a little cottage that looked out across the water where I could sit and write to my heart's content - a girl can dream right?!
Have you been to Crosby beach before? What other northern beaches should we visit?
