My 5 favourite bars in Leeds right now
I'm not going to lie, I got the idea from this post when I was scrolling through my Instagram feed and realised that a large percentage of my recent photos were of delicious cocktails that I've enjoyed in Leeds bars this summer. It got me thinking about how ace the Leeds bar scene is at the minute and I thought I'd share some of my faves in case a) you live in Leeds and want to know where to get your weekend cocktail fix or b) you need an excuse to come and visit Leeds and can be lured by booze. So yeah, without further ado, here is my little rundown of the best bars in Leeds right now. (I have written Leeds a lot times. I promise I'll stop now).
1) Belgrave Music Hall & Canteen
I love this bar all year round, but it gets even more special in the summer when the sun is shining and you can take full advantage of their roof top terrace. They've got some pretty special gin cocktails on the menu at the minute, and you can even tuck into a slice of pizza or an epic burger there if you so fancy. What's not to love?!
If you're partial to an Aperol Spritz (and really, who isn't!?) then LIVIN'Italy is your bag. You can grab a table outside on their little patio if it's sunny, and if you get there between 5-7pm on a weeknight you can also take full advantage of their aperitivo hour, when they lay on a little buffet of Italian goodness to enjoy with your drinks.
3) The Hedonist Project
The Hedonist Project is a pretty special bar because it changes it's concept every 3 or 4 months. They totally reincarnate everything from the decor to the drinks menu, all focussed around a single spirit. It's current iteration is Trader Dan's Surf Shack, specialising in delicious rum punch and cocktails, and everything about it screams summer, from the beach bar decor to the ace pop punk tunes. Definitely one to try out before autumn rolls around.
4) Headrow House
This one is cheating a little bit, because Headrow House is more than just one bar, but it's one of my favourite places to get a drink at the moment in Leeds. Whether you fancy a pretty cocktail on the rooftop terrace or a pint of Pilsner in the super cool beer hall, you're bound to have a fun time here. Plus, the food at OX Club is amazing if you're hungry.
5) The Turk's Head
I finally got round to trying this place last week and oh my god, I'm in love. The decor is an absolutely blogger's DREAM (think marble tables and gold accents) and the drinks menu is really interesting - think independent craft beers and classic cocktails with a twist.
