My Goals For The Rest Of 2016

Okay, can we just stop for a second and try and work out how we got to the bloody middle of October?! I know it sounds cliche to say, but 2016 really has whipped past before my eyes in one great big blur. I swear it was just Easter two seconds ago... The fact that we have less than 12 weeks left of this year is terrifying me a little bit, so I wanted to have a think about what I'd like to do and achieve before New Year's Eve rolls around again. Here are my goals for the rest of 2016...

1) Practice more mindfulness

This year has really taken it's toll on my mental health and right now my brain is feeling more than a little bit frazzled. When I look back on the past 9 months I can really see why - not only have we had a tragic bereavement to contend with, but we have also bought and started renovating a house and been planning a wedding. Throw a couple of health scares and a stressful job into the mix and it's understandable that I'm feeling exhausted.

I don't want to start a brand new year feeling how I do now, so I'm determined to practice mindfulness over the next few months in an attempt to calm my frantic brain. I have been reading this book and doing the guided meditations that accompany it, and I am really hoping that by the end of the year I'll be feeling more ready to crack on with making 2017 great.

2) Finish my reading challenge

Some of you might have seen that I set myself the challenge of reading 52 books at the beginning of the year and I'm determined to complete this. I've managed to read 44 so far so only 8 more to go and now that the cosy nights are rolling in, I'm quietly confident that I'll surpass 52!

I've really enjoyed reading more this year, so I'm thinking I might set myself another challenge next year but I'm not sure what the number will be yet...

3) Sort out my 2017 travel plans

This year I have travelled more than ever and by the end of 2016 I will have been on 7 trips abroad and quite a few UK based adventures. Travel is one of the things that makes me happiest so I am determined to do even more of it in 2017 and I want to spend the next couple of months researching and planning what to do.

We already have a trip to Berlin booked for February and we will be travelling to the South of France for my friends wedding in August. On top of that we have a minimoon and honeymoon to squeeze in too, so I think it's gonna be a pretty fab year for travel!

4) Make more memories with the people I love

The biggest thing I've learnt this year is that there is absolutely nothing more precious than the memories you make with the people you love the most. I'm determined to make quality time with family and friends my absolute priority over the next couple of months and I want to enter 2017 cherishing lots of new memories.

We have our family trip to Disneyland to look forward to, some pretty exciting Christmas plans and two weddings to celebrate with family and friends. I'm also trying to squeeze in as many visits and catch ups with friends, old and new. Life is too short to not to hang out with the people you love.

What are your plans and goals for the rest of 2016?
