Hello from Paris
Good morning from Paris! I am writing this from my bed at Hotel Basss and I have THE dreamiest view of the sun rising behind the Eiffel Tower. It is all kinds of perfect.
We arrived late afternoon yesterday, and as soon as walked out of the terminal at Gare du Nord I remembered how much I love this city. The sun was setting as we walked up to Montmartre and the higher we got the more perfect the view was. The light was bouncing off all of the gorgeous buildings with their balconies and flowers and pretty shutters and for the first time in ages, I felt excited.
I was a bit worried that I might not get that "YAY I'm on holiday!" buzz that hits me whenever I travel. I have felt anxious about this trip - nervous about the flight, worried about what could go wrong. But as soon as we arrived in Paris I felt happy and at ease. That feeling only grew as I filled my belly with fillet steak and champagne and watched the Eiffel Tower put on the most spectacular light show from the comfort of our gorgeous hotel room.
I feel like Paris is just what I needed right now. It's a city that is familiar enough to me to not be too daunting, and pretty enough to distract my frazzled mind. I love this city so much and I know that even the shortest trip is going to work wonders for my soul.
Today we're planning to walk up to the Sacre Coeur to take in those epic views of this gorgeous city and then take a stroll along the Seine - I'm hoping that it might look even more Instagrammable with all the autumn leaves! We're also going to try and squeeze in a hot chocolate at Angelina's and a little nosey around Sephora, so I'm fairly confident that today will be just as dreamy as last night was.
And then tonight we're heading off to Disneyland Paris where we will be meeting my family for a few days of magic and Halloween fun. I can't wait to see the kids' faces light up when they meet their favourite characters or my Mum's face after a ride on Space Mountain! I think that it will be just what our family needs right now - a little bit of sparkle and fun to lighten the load somewhat.
I'm going to go and eat lots of croissants now, but if you'd like to keep up with our trip you can follow me on Instagram here. It's pretty much certain that I'll be sharing WAY too many photos...
