Planning a Festive Break

Now that my birthday is out of the way, I feel like I can fully turn my attention to Christmas. It's getting scarily close now and I am very unprepared with present buying, but I have had a festive coffee, so y'know, priorities. One thing I am determined to try and squeeze in this year is a little festive break here in the UK. In the past couple of years we have been to Oslo, New York and Berlin to get that Christmassy feel, but with so many great markets and events popping up closer to home, I don't think we'll need to be hopping on a plane.

Here are three places I would love to visit for a Christmas break...

1) Edinburgh

I keep banging on about how much I want to go back to Edinburgh and I'm not about to stop any time soon. I love this city so much and it's even more magical in the run up to Christmas. With an epic European Christmas market, an ice skating rink and a Street of Lights, I think it would be hard to visit this city in December and NOT leave feeling like you're ready to bust out the Christmas songs at any occasion.

2) London

I love love love London at Christmas time. I love the gorgeous lights on Oxford Street, I love the epic Christmas set up in Selfridges and I love that you can ice skate at Somerset House. It's the perfect place to visit to get all of your last minute gift shopping done whilst also squeezing in a little treat for yourself.

Plus, if you need an extra festive injection, Hyde Park's Winter Wonderland will totally have you covered.

3) Manchester

Last but no means least is Manchester. This one is a little bit closer to home for us, but that doesn't change how much fun it is! We like to try and visit every year as there is always something new to see, eat or do!From mid-November onwards, Manchester has Christmas markets spread all over the city. You can grab a bite to eat, fill up on mulled wine and get your shopping done, all while being surrounded by twinkly lights and festive music.

Another favourite at this time of year is grabbing a drink in one of the teepees at The Oast House - I promise that it's the most hygge you'll feel this year!

So there you have it, the three destinations I've got my eye on for a Christmas break here in the UK. Are planning on getting away anywhere?
