10 favourites this week (#97)
Happy Monday everyone! Did you all have a nice weekend? I had such a lovely one filled with best friends and great food and lots of cosy time. I feel like it was just what I needed and it's set me up well for another busy week.
Also can you believe that this is my 97th favourites post?! I can't believe I'll be in triple digits soon. I'm thinking about putting some sort of giveaway together for my 100th one, so watch this space!
Anyway, I'm getting ahead of myself. Here are my 10 favourites this week...
1) A totally fab birthday
Monday was my birthday which meant I got to start the week off with a day off work hanging out with my lovely Sam. We started the day with mimosas and pressies in a gigantic hotel bed which was ace - I personally think all Mondays should start that way! I was so spoilt with lots of thoughtful gifts and cards and messages this year and it made me feel so loved. I'm a very lucky lady!
2) Tate Modern
While we were in Liverpool on Monday we decided to head across to the Tate Modern for a little wander. Tracey Emin's work "My Bed" is on exhibition there and after hearing so much about it it was great to see it in the flesh. I thought it was such an interesting piece of work and it actually inspired a couple of ideas of my own. Watch this space.
3) Planet Earth 2
I know Planet Earth returned to our TVs a couple of weeks ago, but Sam and I had decided to wait until our living room was finished before watching it - we felt like such a stunning programme deserved the proper HD TV treatment rather than a tiny laptop screen. The first episode definitely wasn't a disappointment - the sloths were my favourite! I can't wait to watch the rest of the series.
4) Going swimming
I mentioned last week that I had joined a gym with a pool and this week I put it to the test and went swimming a couple of times. I was surprised by how much I really enjoyed swimming - after a few months with no exercise I was worried it might be too tiring but I found it really relaxing. Plus I slept like a baby afterwards!
5) A lovely surprise parcel from my friend
I'd had a missed parcel slip from Royal Mail while we were in Liverpool last weekend and I had assumed it was something that had been sent for my blog. However when I got to the depot, I was greeted with a gorgeous box of goodies from one of my best friends, Laura. It was packed full of face masks and snacks and beautiful pressies and I cried my eyes out when I opened it. It was such a thoughtful and generous gesture and was just the lift I needed on a bad day.
6) A fun night at the Salon Success UK event
On Thursday night after work I headed to the Malmaison in Leeds for a fab festive night with the Salon Success UK team and lots of other lovely bloggers. We were treated to a gorgeous three course meal, pulled crackers (and wore the hats!) and learnt about some of the fab new products that are being released soon. Like that wasn't lovely enough, we were sent home with very generously stuffed bags of goodies that I can't wait to try!
7) M&S beauty advent calendar
With December just around the corner, I've been on the hunt for a great advent calendar and this week I decided to treat myself to one of the fab M&S beauty ones. It was such a bargain and it is jam packed full of lots of amazing beauty goodies - I'm counting down to December 1st already...
8) A girly night in with my bridesmaids
On Saturday all of my bridesmaids (minus Steph who lives all the way in Sydney) came up to Leeds for a girly night in. We ate yummy food, drank A LOT of prosecco and laughed our heads off and it was absolutely perfect. I can't wait for us all to get together again at my hen do and I feel so so lucky that I'll be walking down the aisle surrounded by some of the best ladies in the whole wide world.
9) Brunch at the Mill Kitchen
If you've been reading this blog for any length of time then you'll know that the Mill Kitchen is my fave spot for brunch in Leeds, so I had to take the girls there while they were visiting! It was just as yummy as it always is and it was nice to get a little bit of fresh air on the wander home too. It was the perfect start to Sunday.
10) Lots of cosy hygge time at home
I have loved having lots of time in our house this week - after spending lots of time redecorating and sorting over the past few weeks, it's been nice to just enjoy being at home. We've been lighting all the candles, snuggling under the blankets and putting the fire on and it has just been pure hygge perfection. I hope we get to do lots more of it this winter.
