10 favourites this week (#100)
It's been a momentous week on the blog - last week we had a blog birthday and today we've finally reached 100 favourites posts!!! I honestly never thought I'd make it into double figures - I am notorious for starting things with plenty of gusto and then forgetting all about them a few weeks later. But I love putting these posts together so much - it's always so nice to sit back and reflect on all of the lovely things that have happened in the past week.
I really do think that writing these posts has made me a happier and more grateful person. Plus I LOVE the fact that I'll be able to read back on them all one day and remember all of the fun I've had.
This 100th week has been a fun one. I feel like the Christmas festivities are in full swing now and I'm definitely ready to start winding down for the holidays. Here are my 10 favourites this week...
1) Bon Iver tribute gig
We started the week on a high - on Monday evening Sam played as part of a band playing Bon Iver's debut album For Emma. The gig took place in a church and it was just so beautiful - they all did a great job. Plus, there was lots of mulled wine and fairy lights so it felt very festive!
2) A couple of chilled out evenings
I've been so tired this week for some reason (I think I've been fighting off a cold!) so I treated myself to a couple of quiet evenings at home. Think long hot baths, good home cooked food and lots of early nights with my book. It was just what I needed and i think it did me the world of good.
3) More advent running
I've been keeping up with my advent running this week and have been thoroughly enjoying getting out in the fresh air and having a quiet half an hour to myself. This week my official t-shirt arrived which has weirdly been giving me even more motivation to get out and run - I love how festive looking it is.
4) My blog got nominated for an award
As well as having a birthday and reaching triple figures on my favourites posts, my blog was also nominated for an award this week! How exciting. I would be so so chuffed if you would vote for me in the travel and lifestyle categories here - it literally takes 30 seconds but it would make my day!
5) Hanging out with my sister
On Friday night I hung out at home with my sister and her boyfriend. We had Chinese takeaway and watched the TV and generally had a super relaxing time. My sister has just had an offer accepted on a house so we were chatting all things interior design (much to her boyfriend's dismay!) which was lovely.
6) A fun afternoon in Manchester
On Saturday afternoon I headed into Manchester with my parents and Sam for an afternoon of bar hopping. We did a little food and drink crawl round Piccadilly and it was so nice just to have some time to properly catch up with them. I'm very lucky that my parents are some of my favourite people to spend time with, and I suppose Sam is okay too!
7) Christmas candles
Without a doubt one of my favourite things about this time of year is being able to burn all of the Christmas candles! I've been stockpiling them for the last few months and I just love coming home from work and lighting them - they are making our house smell SO GOOD.
8) Checking out the new Bundobust
While we were in Manchester on Saturday we headed to the soft launch of the new Bundobust branch. We are huge fans of the Leeds one so knew we were in for a treat and we were really impressed! The food was tasty, the beer selection was ace and the decor was gorgeous - definitely one to check out if you're Manchester based.
9) Lots of dog walks
One of my favourite things about being home is being able to take my dog out for lovely long walks. I managed to squeeze in a couple this weekend and it made me even more desperate to get a puppy of our own! I think 2017 may be the year it happens...
10) Family Christmas part 1
Yesterday we spent the day with some of Sam's family having an early Christmas day. We ate turkey and drank fizz and played games and swapped presents and it made me feel very festive. Spending time with family and loved ones is without a doubt the best part of Christmas in my opinion.
