10 favourites this week (#105)

Happy Monday, y'all! Apparently today is the most depressing day of the year, but I'm not feeling that way at all. Instead I feel like 2017 is actually off to a pretty great start! Granted, I might be a bit biased because I had such a lovely weekend, but still, blue Monday is nowhere to be seen around here! How are you feeling? Are you kicking those January blues too?

I honestly think writing these weekly posts is one of the things that keeps me feeling so positive. They get me focussing on the good stuff rather than the bad. So without further ado, here are my 10 favourites this week...

1) Ordering our wedding invites

After weeks of looking for the perfect wedding invites we finally found some that we love! It was so exciting to get them ordered and I *may* have done a little dance when they arrived. I can't wait to start sending them out so that we can start getting RSVPs back - is that sad!?

2) Free coffee

Last month a new Caffe Nero opened up across the road from my office and on Monday the manager popped in with a bag of pastries and some vouchers for free coffees! The pastries were delicious and it totally cheered my week up getting a couple of free flat whites.

3) Booking our minimoon to NYC

IMG_3741 2Definitely one of the most exciting things that happened this week! Due to annual leave we can't go on our proper honeymoon until 2018, so we've booked a trip to New York for the week after our wedding. It's our favourite place in the whole world and we haven't been since we got engaged there in 2015 so I'm SO excited. We have a full week to explore, plus we'll be there for July 4th which should be really fun!

4) A very yummy slow cooker stew

I accept that this is a very middle aged thing to put on my favourites list, but this week we made a stew in the slow cooker and oh my god it was amazing! Sam put it on before we headed to work and when we got home the whole house smelled SO good - plus it tasted incredible. I am now totally obsessed with my slow cooker, so send your favourite recipes my way please!

5) Pilates

This week I went to a couple of Pilates classes at the gym and I really enjoyed them! I love that it feels like a challenging workout while also being an opportunity to just switch off and relax for an hour or so. I'm definitely going to stick with it - here's hoping I'll have arms like Jennifer Aniston soon!

6) The XX's new album

The XX were one of my fave bands when I was at uni, so I was super chuffed when I saw that they had a new album out this week. It's really good - I think I've listened to it 15 times already! I'm hoping they'll be announcing some festival dates soon so I can see them live this summer.

7) My first pair of designer sunglasses

Processed with VSCO with hb2 presetThis week was a momentous one for me - I got my very first pair of designer sunnies! I'm usually all about the Primark eyewear, but I'm working on a collaboration with SmartBuyGlasses (watch this space!) and they very kindly sent me a pair of Celine sunnies. I am obsessed with them and I desperately want the weather to stop being so grey so that I can wear them everyday.

8) Dogsitting

My mum and dad have gone on their jollies so Sam and I are minding the family pooch for the next fortnight. It's been so lovely having him here this weekend - we've been for some sunny walks along the canal and it's so nice to have doggy cuddles every morning.

9) Belgrave Street Feast

Sam and I headed into town on Saturday afternoon for a little date day and we ended up going to Belgrave Street Feast. We ate lots of yummy food, including pizza, salt and pepper fries and bao buns, all washed down with some delicious beers. It was a very lovely way to spend the afternoon - I do love hanging out in Leeds.

10) A very lazy Sunday

Yesterday was pretty much the perfect Sunday - I had a very lazy lie in, read a few chapters of a new book, drank Prosecco and made a cottage pie. Plus I watched MANY episodes of Girls while laying on the sofa under my cosiest blanket. It was just what I needed and has definitely set me up for a busy week ahead!
