Exploring Borough Market
When Sam and I headed down to London a couple of weeks ago, there was one place top of our list to explore: Borough Market. Despite how much time I spend in the capital, I've never managed to get there before, but I'd heard so many great things about it. We arrived at Borough Market at around 2pm on Saturday afternoon and it was absolutely heaving. We were pretty peckish so headed straight to the street food stands for a little snack. There was so much choice, but we ended up picking up a couple of samosas and bhajis from Gujarati Rasoi - they looked and smelt so good that we couldn't resist! We didn't manage to get any photos because we inhaled them within minutes, but they were super yum and surprisingly filling.
Once we'd fed our hungry tummies it was time to explore all that Borough Market had to offer. It's packed to the rafters with stalls selling everything you could possibly require (and probably more!). Home baked desserts, organic veg, goats milk ice cream, artisan bread, delicious cheeses - you name it, you can find it here.
There are also lots of other pubs, bars and restaurants surrounding the market. We found ourself sheltering from the cold and enjoying a couple of drinks in The Southwark Tavern which had a great atmosphere and a good beer selection too. There's plenty of choice of locations though if you fancy grabbing some dinner or a cocktail.
It's a great little spot to while away a couple of hours and fill up on some delicious food. I imagine it would be perfect for buying a couple of unusual gifts at Christmas time too (or y'know, just treating yourself to lots of fudge, because you deserve it!). This definitely won't be my last visit!
Have you been to Borough Market before? Do you have a favourite stand?
