My Plans For Summer
It's Friiiiiiiday and the sun is shining and boy oh boy am I in a good mood! Isn't it amazing what a bit of blue sky can do for your overall happiness levels?! This lovely weather has had me thinking about summer, which is creeping up so quickly now. I have to say, I don't think I've ever been this excited about a summer before - not even when I got 6 weeks off school to chain watch Nickelodeon, and that's saying something.
So today I thought I'd share a little bit of a round up of my plans for summer - a) because I knew it would be a fun post to write and b) I'm super nosey and love reading this sort of thing on other people's blogs, so hopefully you guys will like it too!
My hen do
Kicking off the start of my summer is my hen do which is taking place on the first bank holiday weekend in May (so actually not that long away, yikes!). My sister has very kindly organised this so I don't actually know all that much about what we're doing , but she did tell me last week that we'll be staying at the fab Jollydays glamping site. This is run by the same people behind the incredible North Star Club, so I know we're in for a treat!
A trip to Amsterdam
Just a few weeks after my hen do, I'll be jetting off to Amsterdam for a girly weekend away with the lovely Beverley and Sam. We specifically chose May to visit as it's tulip season and from doing a bit of research it seems like the city looks truly stunning at that time of year. I'm also pretty excited to be exploring Amsterdam with two of my favourite travel bloggers who will definitely not whinge at me when I start photographing my brunch.
Sam's album launch
If you follow me on Twitter, you might have seen that last night my lovely soon to be husband announced his debut album! He has been working on it for so long now, and I couldn't be more chuffed for him that the world will finally get to hear it - I've had a little sneak listen and it's just beautiful. It will be released at the end of May which will come hand in hand with launch gigs and lots of hard earned celebrations - I can't wait. You can find out more here if you're interested.
I actually can't believe how quickly our wedding is coming round - 3 months today I'll be getting ready to head down the aisle, yikes! Now that we've got most of the organisation done I feel like I can really start looking forward to our big day. I'm so glad that we chose a venue that means we can all stay for the whole weekend to drag out the fun and I can't wait for all of our friends and family to see Anglesey - I know they'll fall in love with it in the same way that I have.
Our minimoon to NYC
A few days after the wedding I'll be headed to the airport with my brand new hubby in tow, ready for our minimoon in NYC! We're going to do a big west coast road trip for our proper honeymoon next spring, so decided to head back to our favourite city in the world immediately after getting married to soak it all in. We'll be there for seven nights which is the longest we've ever had in New York and I can't wait for sunny rooftop bars and picnics in Brooklyn Bridge Park and general summer city fun. Plus we'll be there for July 4th which I'm really excited about!
The weekend after we get back from New York, Sam will be playing at the ace Bluedot festival. The line up looks amazing and it's pretty local too, so this is definitely one I'm going to tag along to and hopefully it will help with the post NYC blues! I'm hoping we might get to another festival or two over the summer as last year was very sparse on the festival front.
August will see Sam hit the big 3-0 which will come with a whole new round of celebrations! I'm still working on plans and Sam does read this blog every now and then, so I won't reveal too much, but I'm sooooo excited to celebrate a big milestone birthday with my guy. I'm sure it will involve lots of food and beer and maybe a trip away somewhere, seeing as these are all of our favourite things.
My best friend's wedding in Toulouse
My lovely friend Steph is also getting married this year and I'm going to be a bridesmaid, yay! They've decided to tie the knot in the beautiful south of France which means as well as celebrating their big day, we've managed to plan a bit of a friends holiday around it which I'm really looking forward to. Bring on ALL of the sun, champagne and cheese!
A city break in Madrid
When we were booking our flights to Toulouse for Steph's wedding, we realised that it was cheaper to fly on to Madrid and have a few days there rather than flying straight home, so we're going to tag on a little sunny city break to the end of the trip. I've booked a gorgeous hotel with a rooftop pool and I'm so excited to soak in one last burst of European summer before the autumn starts creeping in. I've never been before so send me any tips!
So there we have it, my plans for summer 2017. I'm also thinking about trying to squeeze a little solo trip in somewhere too, maybe in July. What have you got planned for the summer?
