10 favourites this week (#140)
Oh hey there Monday, you came around quickly didn't ya?! Lucky for me, I've had one of those weekends that has really set me up for a good week ahead. Lots of sleep, plenty of fresh air and a good old dose of down time means I'm ready to take this week by storm! Plus I've got a holiday to look forward to at the end of it, which always makes Mondays easier, doesn't it?
Anyway, let's crack on with some favourites shall we?
1) Crisp autumn days
How glorious has the weather been this week? Sure there have been a couple of grey afternoons, but there have also been crisp blue sky days galore and it has made me a very happy lady. There's something about those golden, sun washed mornings that make me feel a little bit more excited about life - I hope we have many more before the proper winter rolls around.
2) Having the girls round for tea
On Tuesday evening two of my friends came round for dinner and it was lovely. I made a stew in the slow cooker which was yummy (if I do say so myself!) and we sat and looked at the photos from our wedding. It was so much fun to relive all of the little moments with them and definitely made Tuesday less dull.
3) Sticking to my running plan
I've mentioned before on this blog that I'm trying to get into a bit of a running routine and this is the first week that I've actually managed to get out for a jog three times. The even better news is that I've actually really enjoyed it - nothing beats that post run high after a stressful day in the office!
4) Booking an apartment for our family trip to New York
I told you all a couple of weeks ago that we'd booked flights for a family trip to New York next summer, and after a lot of research, we finally booked an apartment this week. It's a gorgeous little walk up in the heart of the East Village (which just so happens to be one of my favourite areas of the city) and booking it has made me even more excited for our trip. It's totally okay to be counting down to next summer already, right?
5) Celebrating 7 years with Sam
This week marked the 7 year anniversary of Sam and I getting together which means that we have now been a couple for more than a quarter of my life - how bonkers is that?! We didn't do anything over the top to celebrate, but we did manage to spend way more time together this week than we ever usually get chance to which was pretty lovely.
6) Leeds Light Night
Light Night is one of my favourite events in the Leeds social calendar - the city basically comes to life with beautiful light installations popping up everywhere. This year was extra special because one of Sam's tracks had been chosen to accompany an epic projection in Millennium Square - I was feeling like such a proud wife when we went to see it!
7) Watching Sex and the City
You all know how much of a fan I am of revisiting old favourite box sets - it was Gossip Girl earlier in the year, and this weekend I restarted Sex and the City from the very beginning. I don't think I've done this since the old uni days and I have absolutely loved watching the escapades of Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha again. Plus, it's worth a watch for the gorgeous New York scenes alone.
8) A visit from my auntie and uncle
On Saturday afternoon my auntie and uncle called in to see us on their way home from a trip to Haworth, and it was absolutely lovely to see them both. They've just been on an epic road trip around California so they were giving us some good tips for our own trip and we had a good ol' catch up over tea and cake. It's rare that we have family visiting us here in Leeds as we're the only ones on this side of the Pennines, so we really enjoyed it.
9) Some very yummy meals
This week I've spent a lot of time in the kitchen whipping up some healthier versions of my favourite meals and there have been lots of successes! From risotto to pulled pork to mac and cheese, I've loved pretty much everything we've eaten, and I've really enjoyed spending some time cooking. I always find it really relaxing!
10) A cosy Sunday at home
We spent a lot of Saturday cleaning, sorting and food shopping, which meant that yesterday we got to enjoy a super relaxing and cosy day at home without anything to worry about. We had a lazy morning drinking tea in bed, watched a couple of films and had loads of cuddles with the kitty. It was just perfect and made me feel like a very happy and contented lady.
What have you all been up to this week?
