Happy Monday, you lovely lot! It's been a while since I checked in with a weekly favourites post, but I'm so happy to be back and sharing the lines that have been making me smile with you all. I had a big fear that the holiday blues would strike this week, but in all honesty, it's been really nice to ease back into our usual routine and catch up with friends and family. Here are my 10 favourites this week...

1) Home sweet home

We landed back in the UK on Monday afternoon, and after a long journey home I can honestly say I've never been so happy to walk through my own front door! It was so nice to be reunited with our little cat, see all the new tricks our nephew has learned while we've been away, and of course, have a proper cup of Yorkshire tea. I love going away, but there really is no place like home.

2) Starting an exciting project

I mentioned on Twitter a little while back that I had an idea for an exciting new little side project, and this week I finally got some plans under way. I briefed the awesome Steph from Donut Press to help me with some branding and spent pretty much every evening brainstorming ideas and plans - I'm hoping to be able to share it with you all in September, so watch this space!

3) Getting back into the swing of work

I'll admit that I'm usually less than excited about going back to work after a brilliant holiday, but I actually really enjoyed getting back into the swing of things this week. It made me realise how much I'm enjoying my current job, and I'm super excited about some of the projects we've got on the horizon. It's going to be a busy old summer, but I think it'll be more than worth it.

4) Love Island

I seem to have totally missed the Love Island hype over the past few years, but this week I caved and I have to admit, I'm addicted! I was hooked within a few hours and it seems like I'm not the only one - I've been chatting about it all week at work and with friends. Between that and season 2 of Queer Eye, I have a feeling that I'm going to be watching a lot of telly over the next few weeks...

5) Visiting Hourglass at Harvey Nichols

You probably all know by now that Hourglass are one of my favourite ever beauty brands, so I was very excited that they officially launched in Harvey Nichols in Leeds this week! The team kindly invited me down to try some of their new ranges and it's safe to say that my obsession is only growing - I love that all of their products are backed by science and technology, as well as being totally beautiful. I'm definitely a fan girl, and am pleased that I can now stock up at any time in Harvey Nics.

6) Getting my hair cut

Confession time: the last time I had my hair cut was in November... In my defence, my lovely cousin Redmond used to cut and colour my hair for me, and when he flew off to Sydney in January I wasn't sure if I could trust anyone else. But with the ends starting to look very tatty I knew I had to bite the bullet, and on Friday I finally went for the chop. I'm so pleased with how it's looking and I realised how much I missed that swishy fresh hair feeling.

7) Dinner and catch ups with Jess

I spent Friday night hanging out with my lovely friend Jess. We caught up on our lives, reminisced about our college days (we met over 10 years ago while sitting next to each other in English and have been firm friends ever since), and enjoyed a glass of wine and some yum food. It was super lovely and the perfect way to get the weekend started.

8) Bottomless brunching with the girls

On Saturday I headed to Shear's Yard in Leeds for bottomless brunch with the girls. We drank an impressive amount of Aperol spritzes and generally had a lovely afternoon being giggly and putting the world to rights. I absolutely love going for drinks during the day as you get all of the fun without any of the hangover!

9) Family walks at Fewston & Swinsty reservoir

Yesterday we drove over to Otley and met Sam's brother and his family for a walk around the Fewston and Swinsty reservoirs. Not only was the scenery gorgeous, but we also had a picnic and got to see our little nephew excitedly chatting to the ducks. It was such a lovely way to spent a Sunday.

10) Ordering our new kitchen

You've all heard me banging on about needing a new kitchen for years now, and yesterday we finally went and ordered it! We had the plans done by IKEA a little while ago and I'm so excited that it will all be finished before summer is over. I'm already dreaming about dinner parties and cooking up a storm - of course I'll be doing a before and after to share with you all!
