10 favourites this week (#167)

First of all, I apologise for the fact that this post is 2 days late! Life has ended up being pretty bloody busy over the past couple of weeks, and it doesn't look like it's about to slow down anytime soon, so I apologise if things are a little bit quiet around here. I thought about just sacking off my favourites post for this week, but in all honesty, they're my favourite ones to write and look back on, so it seemed a shame to give it a miss. Plus, last week was a very lovely one and I wanted to document it! So here goes...

1) Sunshine

I just couldn't start this post with anything but the beautiful sunshine, could I? I honestly can't remember a time when the weather was consistently this good in the UK, and I am absolutely living for it. I love seeing that full row of sunshines on my weather app and I swear all of the daylight is putting me in the BEST mood - long may it continue.

2) A little trip to Crosby beach

Sam and I both had last Monday off work to extend our first wedding anniversary celebrations, and as we were over in Liverpool we decided to make the most of it with a trip to the beach. We paddled in the sea, devoured Mr Whippy ice creams and talked a lot about buying a house on the coast. One day, one day.

3) More BBQs

I have a feeling that BBQs are going to be on my favourites list for the foreseeable future, but when the weather is this good, who can resist?! I feel like we've already had more BBQs in our garden this year than any other summer before and I am genuinely chuffed about it.

4) Love Island

I know it's a bit sad to have a reality TV show on this list, but I can't deny that Love Island is making my evenings so much more fun at the moment! I count down to my little hour of pure escapism every evening and I love seeing everyone else's reactions on Twitter too. I'm definitely gonna miss it when it finishes.

5) A very busy work week

For some people this would be the low point of the week, but I have to admit that I love being busy at work and get a real buzz out of having a productive week! We've got lots going on at the moment and I'm working on some very exciting projects, so rather than dreading the 9-5, I'm actually really enjoying it, which I think is definitely something worth celebrating.

6) Getting excited about our trip to New York

We're heading back to New York with my lovely family in just over 3 weeks, and it's safe to say that last week the excitement well and truly kicked in! We finalised all the details of our Airbnb and have been researching what we want to get up to while we're there - I just can't wait to be back in my favourite place in the world.

7) Going viral

On Friday afternoon I shared this tweet about the summer we're having here in the UK, and by the time I woke up on Saturday morning it had gone viral. Friends kept tagging me in meme sites and I had to delete Twitter off my phone because the notifications were draining my battery big time. I found the whole thing pretty hilarious!

8) A lovely weekend with my girls

I spent the weekend just gone in Norwich with two of my oldest friends, Emily and Fiona. We have been pals since we were 17 and there was a time where I slept at their houses more than I did my own, but now that we're all dotted all over the country, our time together is precious. It was so nice to have the opportunity to catch up with them properly, and I'm already counting down the days until our next reunion.

9) Sunbathing at the beach

On Saturday we jumped in the car and drove out to the North Norfolk coast for a day of sunbathing on the most beautiful beach. What made it even better was that my lovely friend Fi had arranged a beach hut for us as a surprise, which felt like an absolute luxury! We had the best day swimming in the sea, napping on the sand and picnicking  in our hut - it was absolute summer perfection.

10) Exploring Norwich

We spent the rest of the weekend exploring Norwich, and I have to say that I absolutely fell in love with the city. It's teeming with independent shops and quirky bars, and there is so much beautiful architecture that my eyes didn't really know where to look. I hope I get chance to visit again soon!
