Some Intentions For The Rest Of 2018

I was updating some bits on my calendar last week when I realised that we only have 5 full months of 2018 left. I won't wax lyrical about how bonkers that seems to me as I know we probably all feel the same, but it did stop me in my tracks and make me think about how I want to spend the rest of the year. I don't want to set any super strict goals as I only end up feeling disheartened if I don't achieve them, but I have worked through some intentions for the rest of 2018. And in order to hold myself accountable to them, I thought I'd share them here...

Stop over committing myself

If I only keep one of my intentions during the next 6 months, I want it to be this one. I have a habit of saying yes to everything and everyone, and as a result I end up with something in my diary every weekend and most week nights too. Given the fact that I have to travel a minimum of 2 days a week for work, adding in a load of social commitments leaves me feeling burnt out and exhausted.

I want to be more intentional with my time and really think about how I can achieve a better balance in my life. I know I need more downtime, so I need to start being a little more selfish and carve that time out in my diary, even though my people pleasing tendencies might make it difficult.

Take control of my finances

I wouldn't say I'm a novice when it comes to handling my finances, but I could definitely have a better grip on the money coming in and out of my bank. I've been reading a lot recently about how being in control of our finances gives us options, and that couldn't be truer when it comes to growing my side hustle.

I've already made a good start by filing my tax return a whole 6 months early (check me out!) and I want to spend the rest of the year making a proper financial plan for my business.

Continue practicing my positive affirmations

Something that I've gotten back into recently is practicing positive affirmations. I first learnt about positive affirmations on a course I attended 5 years ago, and they had a huge impact on my life and general levels of positivity, so I'm glad to have them back in my life.

I spent an afternoon a few weeks ago thinking about the things I want to attract into my life and wrote some affirmations that aligned with those goals. I now spend some time reading and reflecting on them every morning and evening and it is already making a big difference, so I want to keep it up for the rest of the year.

Let me know if positive affirmations are something you'd like to read more about on my blog - I know some people find them a bit woo woo, but I love them!

Make our house feel more like home

We've lived in our house for two and a half years now, and even though it looks a lot better than it did when we moved in in February 2016, it's nowhere near finished! I really want to get it feeling truly homely before winter rolls around, so I'll be dedicating some time and energy into doing just that.

We finally have our kitchen re-fit booked in for September, and I've bought a couple of bits to give our office/attic room a bit of a makeover. I just need to find the free time in the diary now...

Invest in myself

My last intention for the rest of 2018 is to make an investment in myself and my skills. Spending significant chunks of money on myself is something that feels a bit icky to me (self worth complex anyone?!), but I want to get over that as I know how important education and coaching can be for career success.

I've already taken my first step towards this by booking myself some coaching with the awesome Jen Carrington - we'll be working together from October onwards, and I'm so excited!

Do you have any intentions for the rest of the year? Let me know and we can keep each other accountable!
