A Little Kitchen Wish List
Are you all bored of hearing me bang on about our kitchen yet? I mean, I'll admit it, I'm even boring myself a little bit. But after living with a bright blue kitchen for the past 2 and a half years, the excitement of having a space I actually love is so real! All going well the main bulk of the work should be finished today and we can move on to the more exciting things like decorating and styling all the little corners up. This room is the real heart of our home, so I can't wait to get it looking exactly how I want it.
So today I thought I'd share a little kitchen wish list. These are the finishing touches that I'm lusting after, and I'll be picking them up as soon as my bank account has recovered...
We've painted the walls in the kitchen white and plan on adorning them with tonnes of prints and photos. I will 100% be buying this print to hang in prime position as it sums up exactly what we want our kitchen to be - a place for dancing, fun, laughter and happy memories!
The theme for our kitchen is monochrome with hints of gold and brass, so when I saw this gorgeous cutlery set on the M&S website I knew that we just needed it. I think it would look especially gorgeous laid out with napkins and other bits and bobs on the table when we have friends round for dinner.
My lovely Mum bought us a dinner set when Sam and I first moved in together 6 years ago and it's still going strong today, but it's safe to say it's in need of a little update. I'm looking forward to swapping the chipped plates and bowls for something a little prettier, and I think this set is just so gorgeous.
One of the things I'm most excited about is playing around with lots of different textures and accents within our new space, and I've had my eye on lots of lovely table linen. I think this striped table cloth from H&M will offset our white and grey floor tiles perfectly.
You might be wondering why I've got hand wash on my kitchen wish list, so I'll let you in on a little secret. I've always dreamed of one day owning my own house and having a chic grown up kitchen, and I promised myself that when I did I'd always keep fancy hand soap by the sink like a real grown up. I probably won't be able to justify a bottle of Aesop's finest every month, but you better believe I'll be living the dream with a bottle some time soon.
We don't have a hallway or porch in our house, so kitchen is the first room you come into through the front door. After spending a large proportion of our savings on floor tiles I'm determined to keep them looking lovely, so we'll definitely need a nice doormat for everyone to wipe their feet on. I love that this one has gold hints in it - it will fit really nicely with our theme.
Last but by no means least is this gorgeous platter from Anthropologie. I love playing host and cooking for friends and family, so I'm planning loads of dinner parties once everything is finished. I think this platter would look gorgeous as a table centrepiece, piled high with meats and cheese, or on a Sunday, sliced roast beef and roast potatoes... yum!
