10 favourites this week (#174)

Happy Monday you lovely lot! My gosh, doesn't it just seem like September is racing by? It's been a seriously busy month already, and I can't see it slowing down anytime soon. Last week was a bit of a mixed bag with a lot of work chaos and my first cold of the season, but there were also loads of very happy moments too. And it's those we'll be concentrating on in this post! Here are my 10 favourites this week...

1) Bodyguard

Oh my god, I'm obsessed. I'm very late to the party but after binge watching the first few episodes this week I was well and truly hooked! I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a TV show so much, so if you've watched anything similar then let me know and I'll check it out.

2) Deliveroo in bed

I was absolutely shattered on Monday, and so rather than doing anything too productive with my evening in London, I decided to stay in my hotel and order a Deliveroo. I thoroughly enjoyed eating ramen and reading my book in bed - it was a very relaxing start to the week!

3) Getting my reading bug back

Does anybody find that they go through fits and starts with a reading? A few weeks ago I read three books in a matter of days, but for the past fortnight I've struggled to read more than a paragraph. Thankfully this week I've found my reading bug again, and I've been thoroughly enjoying snuggling up with a good book again.

4) Exciting chats for This North Works

You all know that This North Works has been a big focus for me recently, and this week I've had a few very exciting calls about new ideas for the project. I'm so excited for everything that's on the horizon and I can't wait to share more with you all soon!

5) Our kitchen is finished!

Probably the most exciting thing that's happened this week - our kitchen is finally finished! There are still a few things that Sam and I need to do, like painting the skirting boards and hanging some prints, but the majority of it is now all done. I couldn't be happier with how it's turned out - I keep walking into the room and doing a giddy dance!

6) A huge house deep clean

Anyone who's ever had any work done in their house will know that the struggle of the builder's dust is real - the entirety of our house was covered in about 3 inches of it! Anyway, this weekend Sam and I spent a good few hours deep cleaning and getting everything back to normal and now the whole place is sparkling.

7) Cooking loads of yummy food

After weeks of eating microwave meals, Sam and I have fully embraced the return of a kitchen and a functioning oven this weekend. I've cooked a pie, delicious steak and a roast with all the trimmings this weekend, and I can't wait to try out lots of lovely recipes over the next few weeks.

8) Minding our nephew Ralf

On Saturday we minded our lovely nephew, Ralf, for the whole day and we had so much fun! He's 18 months old and full of personality, and had us in stitches all day with his funny phrases and faces. I always feel so lucky that we live nearby and get to be a big part of his life.

9) Cosy nights in

My favourite thing about this time of year is getting to embrace all of the cosy nights in, and I've certainly been doing that this weekend! I've been loving drawing the curtains early, lighting all of the candles, and curling up on the sofa with Sam and our kitten - bliss.

10) Breakfast in bed

I woke up feeling run down and full of cold yesterday, but it was made loads better by being delivered breakfast in bed. We have a little cafe in our village that makes the best bacon sandwiches ever, and Sam popped out to get us some while I stayed at home and read my book. I think all Sundays should start with bacon and a good novel, right?!

What have you all been up to this week?
