Happy Monday, you lovely lot! Can you believe we're in October now? It feels totally surreal that we are somehow in the last quarter of the year already, but I'm so excited for all the festivities that the coming months will bring. Anyway, let's get stuck into this week's favourites shall we? It was a week filled with moments of stress, euphoria and pure contentment, and I'm sure I won't forget it in a hurry. Here are my 10 favourites this week...

1) An autumn candle haul

One of my favourite things about this time of year is drawing the curtains, lighting all the candles and curling up on the sofa. I stocked up on some new autumn candles at Homesense this week and I am absolutely loving the fact that my entire house smells like pumpkin and cinnamon - bliss!

2) Opening our two new salons

If you've been reading my blog for the last few weeks you'll know that I've been very busy with my day job recently as we geared up to open two new salons. Well this week we finally opened them, and it was one of my proudest career moments to date! The process was not without it's struggles, but seeing the beauty bars open and filled with happy customers on Thursday made it all worth it.

3) Press

Another week, another TV recommendation! I spent one of my many train journeys last week catching up on Press, a new BBC TV drama all about competing newspapers. I've always been interested in the life of journalists and what goes on behind the headlines, so I've been thoroughly enjoying this series.

4) Ordering a new coat

The temperature is definitely dropping at the moment, and I've used that as a great excuse to treat myself to a new coat! My Mum bought me a leopard print faux fur coat for my 19th birthday, and almost a decade on I decided to replace it with this gorgeous Warehouse number - I can't wait to take it for a spin.

5) Organising our trip to Krakow

I wrote a few weeks ago about how for the first time in a really long time I didn't have any travel plans. Well - it didn't last long! I genuinely didn't think I'd be digging my passport out again this year, but the lovely team at Jet2 invited us on a trip to Krakow, and I couldn't say no. I've been doing a little bit of research this weekend, and it's safe to say that I'm feeling very excited about my first trip to Poland.

6) A fun night at the Northern Blog Awards

On Saturday I headed across to Manchester for the Northern Blog Awards, which were held at the Midland Hotel. I was shortlisted in the lifestyle blogger category, and while I didn't win, I had such a lovely evening. It was amazing to spend the night in a room full of northern talent, meeting the people I've been following on Instagram for years, and generally celebrating this wonderful industry.

7) Inheriting furniture

You all know by now that we've had our kitchen done recently, and this weekend we inherited a lovely piece of furniture to finish the room off with. Sam's parents very generously gave us an old pine dresser that has been in the family for generations, and I can't wait to upcycle it and fill it with treasure. It's so nice to know that as well as being a beautiful piece of furniture, it also holds lots of memories.

8) Hanging out with my in-laws

I spent a few hours yesterday hanging out with my in-laws, and I was reminded of how lucky I am to not only get on with them, but genuinely love spending time in their company. We all headed to Kirkstall deli market where we ate delicious Indian food, caught up on life and chased after Ralf, my very cute nephew. It was a lovely way to spend the afternoon!

9) Reading the Sunday papers

After a very hectic week filled with stress and sleepless nights, it felt like pure luxury to curl up on the sofa for an hour yesterday with the Sunday papers and the radio on in the background. Sometimes it's the simple, calm moments in life that are the loveliest, right?

10) A home cooked lamb hotpot

Last but by no means on my list this week is the lovely home cooked lamb hotpot that I whipped up last night. It was the perfect comfort food on a cold autumn evening, and I'm currently feeling very smug that I have leftovers in the freezer to enjoy later this week!

What's been making you smile this week?
