Happy Monday, you lovely lot! The first working Monday of the year, and I have to admit that I’m struggling a little bit already - let’s hope it’s an easy week, eh? Anyway, I’ve got lots of favourites to share with you all in this week’s post - no January misery around here…

1) A lovely New Year’s Eve

For the first time ever, Sam and I decided to spend New Year’s Eve at home on our own this year, and it was just lovely. Sam cooked us a very delicious Chateaubriand, we drank some fancy champagne and watched all of the specials on the telly. It was super low key, but probably one of the nicest New Year’s we’ve had.

2) Booking flights to Paris

What made New Year’s Eve even better is that we booked some flights to Paris! It’s one of our favourite cities and if we haven’t visited for a few years now, so I’m so excited to be heading back there for a gig next month. We’ve got 3 nights in the city, so let me know allllll your restaurant and bar recommendations please!

3) Launching my new podcast and e-course

I kicked off the week last week by launching two new exciting projects - my new podcast, Practical Positivity, and my new e-course, The Art of Balance. I was totally blown away by the response to both, and I have loved reading all of your messages and comments this week! Thank you so much for all of your support.

4) Getting some fresh air on Ilkley Moor

After having a low key New Year’s Eve, we knew we wanted to make the most of New Year’s Day, and so we headed out for a lovely walk on Ilkley Moor. The weather was just gorgeous, and it felt good to start the year by blowing off the cobwebs and getting lots of fresh air. We’ve vowed to make it a new tradition.

5) A delicious pub lunch

We followed our walk by a very delicious lunch at The Wheatley Arms with my brother in law and his family. The food was absolutely gorgeous, and it was nice to catch up with them and hang out with our nephew for a couple of hours. More of that in 2019 please!

6) Finding the joy in January

Some of you might remember that last year I started a little Instagram hashtag project, called #FindingTheJoyInJanuary. It was all about looking for those happy moments during a month that can often be bleak and col and long, and I loved it so much that I’ve brought it back for this year. We’re using #FindingTheJoyInJanuary2019 if you’d like to join in.

7) Getting a railcard

I travel by train A LOT, and so I was super chuffed to get my hands on one of the new 26-30 railcards this week. Not only is going to save me lots of money, it also had the added bonus of making me feel very young in comparison to my husband who wasn’t eligible - teehee!

8) One final Christmas celebration

We had one final Christmas celebration with Sam’s family on Saturday and it was so lovely. We did a charity shop secret Santa, ate tonnes of delicious food and played some very funny board games. I laughed more than I have done in ages! It was such a lovely way to counteract the January blues.

9) A Sunday well spent

Sunday was spent doing all of my favourite things - eating breakfast in bed, writing, doing some yoga, and going for a big old country walk at Bolton Abbey. We followed our walk up with another yummy pub lunch (this time at The Fleece in Addingham - would also very much recommend!) - a Sunday well spent indeed.

10) A little pamper

I spent my Sunday evening having a good old pamper - I’m talking hot bath, proper exfoliate, hair mask, mini facial - and it was absolutely lovely. I feel very ready for the first full year of 2019 now - bring it on!

How has your first week of 2019 been?
