10 favourites this week (#184)
Happy Monday, you lovely lot! How are you all doing? Did you all survive the first week back at work? January really is a shock to the system, isn't it? Despite that, I actually had a really lovely week - so much so I struggled to whittle down my favourites today! Let's crack on, shall we?
1) A fresh haircut
I started the week in one of the loveliest ways - with a fresh haircut and a swishy blow dry! I'm lucky enough to be able to try out new beauty services at work every now and then, and as I was in dire need of a trim, this one came along just at the right time. I'm hoping 2019 can be the year I get my long locks back, so hopefully a little trim every now and then will help.
2) Lots of time spent reading
One of the things I love most about January is how everyone goes into hibernation mode, meaning my diary is never as jam packed as usual. It's nice to have more time for pottering, but even better than that is more time for reading! I've been thoroughly enjoying curling with a good book every evening instead of rushing around.
Tulips are hands down my favourite fresh flowers to have in the house, so I was absolutely chuffed when I picked up my first bunch this week! They're always such gorgeous colours, and I love how they act as a little reminder that spring isn't too far away.
4) Life Itself
I knew when I saw that this film was from the maker's of This Is Us it was going to be a goodie, but I'm not sure I was quite prepared for just how moving it would be. I cried a lot, but I thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful storytelling and little reminders of what's important in life. (We watched it on Now TV if anyone is looking for it!).
5) Catch ups with my friend
On Thursday evening I had my friend Sarah over for dinner and it was so lovely to catch up! We hadn't seen each other for a little while so we had a good old gossip and I heard all about her recent trip to Costa Rica - she's definitely convinced me to add it to my travel bucket list.
6) A weekend with the girls
My oldest and bestest friends came to visit this weekend and it was so lovely to spend some time with them. They never fail to make me feel like the very best version of myself, and it was so lovely to catch up on life over many, many glasses of fizz (and quite a lot of mac and cheese too).
7) Temple Coffee donuts
In anticipation of our visitors, Sam made a trip to Temple Coffee on Friday to stock up on their awesome donuts. If you're local to Leeds you need to check this place out - they always have the most inventive and delicious flavours, plus all of their donuts are vegan too!
8) A visit to The Hepworth
My friend and I headed across to Wakefield on Saturday to visit the Hepworth gallery and we had such a lovely time. They had some great exhibitions on and we had a very yummy lunch in the cafe too. It's such a cool place - if you're looking for a culture fix in the Yorkshire region, it's one to add to your list.
9) Making a start on my recipe challenge
If you read this post you'll know that I've challenged myself to try 52 new recipes this year, and this week I made a good start by ticking 3 off. My favourite by far was this yummy Sri Lankan curry which will definitely become a firm fixture in our house!
10) A super lazy Sunday
After a very boozy weekend, it was lovely to spend all day yesterday being thoroughly lazy! I pottered about, watched telly, baked cookies and drank a LOT of tea, and it was just what the doctor ordered. In fact, I'm already looking forward to being lazy again next weekend...
What have you all been up to this week?
