10 favourites this week (#185)
Happy Monday, you lovely lot! How has your week been? I hope you’ve all had a lovely one. Mine was less than ideal with more than one curveball to deal with, but do you know what? You can always find things to be grateful about, no matter how tricky times might get. And so, in that spirit, here are my 10 favourites this week…
I started watching this with my friend Fiona when she was here last weekend, and cried my way through the last episode this week. If you haven’t watched Fleabag yet (it’s on BBC iPlayer) then I would encourage you to do so ASAP - it’s funny, confronting, relatable and heart wrenching.
2) Sunny runs
Whenever I find myself getting caught up in my own head too much, I know that getting out in the fresh air for a little jog along the canal will always help. I was lucky that this week my lunch time jogs were also accompanied by lots of sunshine, which defintitely helped!
3) Magic Soul
I don’t know if it cements the belief that I’m an 82 year old woman in a 29 year old’s body by admitting this, but my current favourite radio station is Magic Soul. On the days when I work from home at my kitchen table this station keeps me company, and it’s quite possibly the most uplifting and singalong way to get through the day. Give it a listen before you judge me.
4) Sam’s vodka sauce rigatoni
When we were in New York last year Sam and I both fell in love with vodka sauce (it’s delicious on both pizza and pasta) and he’s been vowing to try and make it ever since. This week he finally did, and we devoured this vodka sauce rigatoni. It was all kinds of delicious - so much so, we ate it two nights in a row.
5) Maggie Rogers
I definitely jumped on the hype when I saw lots of people sharing Maggie Rogers’ debut album on Instagram and Twitter, but it’s safe to say I’m a fan - I’ve been dancing along in the kitchen to it all weekend! Such fab, feel good music that I’m sure will accompany me on many a road trip this year.
6) Making Paris plans
Sam and I are off to Paris next Friday (yippeeee!), so we dedicated some time this week to planning our trip. We’ll be staying at the beautiful Hoxton hotel, and have got a good list of brunch spots and bars to visit, but if you’ve got any favourite spots, be sure to let me know!
7) Watching my nephew at his swimming lesson
On Saturday I went along to watch my nephew at his swimming lesson and I absolutely loved it. He has come on so much since I last went a couple of months ago, and the giggly smiles and waves from the pool were super cute. Definitely a good way to spend a Saturday morning.
8) Working on some exciting things
I’ve been putting in a lot of hours at my laptop during my spare time this week as I’m working on some very exciting things! I don’t want to say too much just yet (sorry to be one of those people), but keep your eyes peeled for a Leeds based event and some new stuff launching soon!
9) Lunch at Skosh
I have been dying to visit Skosh in York for months now, so I was very happy to visit for lunch on Sunday as part of my Christmas present from Sam. We had heard so many good reviews, and it definitely lived up to the hype - every dish was delicious and the service was incredible too. We’ll definitely be back!
10) Rewatching Game of Thrones
In preparation for the final series airing in April, Sam and I have started rewatching Game of Thrones right from the beginning. It’s been so long since we originally watched it that we’ve forgotten all the little twists and turns! And January is better when you have something to binge watch, right?!
How's your week been?
