10 favourites this week (#197)
Happy Tuesday, you lovely lot! This week’s favourites are coming to you a day late because I spent the bank holiday weekend in Bristol celebrating my best friend’s hen do. We had tonnes of fun, and I’ve got a feeling it’s going to take me a little while to recover…
Anyway, let’s crack on with this week’s favourites shall we? It was another lovely week, filled with lots of joyful moments.
1) Game of Thrones
I’ve got a feeling that Game of Thrones might be appearing on this list every week until the series finishes, but I’m totally okay with that! Monday’s episode was so tense but so good, and I can’t wait to see how the series winds up over the next few weeks. I’ll be gutted when it ends though - those new episodes make Mondays so much better!
2) A lovely blog post
I had a huge grin on my face when the lovely Jess shared this blog post with me. She’s written about how her mindset has improved since attending one of my workshops back in March, and I can’t tell you how brilliant it feels to know that the exercises and tools we went through have had such a positive impact.
3) Guilty Feminist Live
On Wednesday evening my friend Jess and I headed over to Halifax to see The Guilty Feminist Live, and we had the most fun! The Guilty Feminist is one of my very favourite podcasts, and it was such an empowering evening of comedy, singing and activism. I practically skipped out of the theatre and have been feeling all pumped up ever since.
4) Booking fun things for our trip to New York
Since we’ve been home from Skye we’ve been turning our attention to our next trip! We’re heading to our very favourite place, New York, for our wedding anniversary in June, and this week we’ve been planning what we want to do while we’re there. We’ve booked some tickets to watch a movie on a Manhattan rooftop, made some dinner reservations, and generally been getting very excited!
Some people find voting a bit of a chore, but I absolutely love going down to the polling station and exercising my vote. It probably helps that our local polling station is in a pub, which meant that we could reward ourselves with a pint after doing our democratic duty.
6) Working on a new project
A big chunk of my time this week has been spent working on a new project that I’ll be sharing later in the month. I think it’s one of my very favourite things I’ve ever worked on and I can’t wait to put it out into the world! My newsletter subscribers will be the first to hear about it, so make sure you’re signed up if you’re not already.
7) Red magazine
Red magazine has been one of my absolute favourites for a while now (their journalism really is the best of the best), but this month’s body issue feels particularly special. The features are all super relatable, and I can’t tell you how refreshing it is to see a truly diverse range of bodies in a print magazine - definitely one to pick up while it’s still on the news stands.
8) Celebrating my best friend’s hen do in Bristol
On Friday I headed over to Bristol for my best friend’s hen do. Myself and the other bridesmaids have been busy planning it since last September and it was so lovely to finally crack on with celebrating! I had the best time laughing with all of her brilliant pals and generally making sure she felt like the special lady she is.
9) Paddle boarding
One of our hen do activities was stand up paddle boarding, and we had such a good laugh! I’ve paddled quite a few times now, but doing it with a big group of competitive ladies made it even more fun. I’d love to be able to do it more often, so if you know of anywhere that offers it near Leeds, let me know.
10) Dancing the night away
One of my other highlights from the hen weekend was going out on Saturday night for a good old dance! I hardly ever go out dancing anymore and it was so fun to jump around, sing along and generally pretend we were starring in our own music video (fuelled by plenty of cocktails, of course!).
What’s been making you smile this week?
