Hands up if you started 2019 with a list of goals and plans and resolutions for the year ahead? Hands up if you haven’t been back and checked in on that list of goals since, ooooh, the middle of January? If you’re sat there with both hands in the air, I can assure you that you aren’t alone.

It seems we all start the year full of gusto and motivation, and then, well, life kinda gets in the way. Before too long we forget all about those big dreams and goals we planned out back in January. Or perhaps you can remember exactly what your big goals were, but you’re kinda avoiding thinking about them because you feel guilty about not making as much progress as you’d have liked? Yep, been there too.

And it’s no surprise really, is it? 12 months is a big old chunk of time, and when we set those goals for ourselves in January, we can’t possibly foresee the curve balls or hurdles we might have to overcome throughout the year. Instead, I choose to break the year down into quarters, and for the past 18 months or so, I’ve been following my own quarterly review process, checking in every 3 months to reflect on my progress, and amend my goals where necessary to help me stay motivated and energised.

It’s been a game changer for me, both professionally and personally. It’s helped me to see that by reflecting on our experiences and learnings, we can set better goals that help us to grow. We’re not robots who can churn tirelessly through tasks and actions to achieve the progress we crave. We’re humans who require a little bit of patience and encouragement and flexibility to thrive, and that’s exactly what I get from those quarterly check ins.

I decided to write Reflect & Grow to help you build your own quarterly review practice. This 20+ page workbook is split into two sections - the first section is full of questions and journaling prompts to help you reflect on the quarter just gone, and think about what you’d like the next quarter to hold. The second section is all about turning those thoughts into tangible plans and goals that you can start actioning. There are some worksheets to help you put some structure around those goals, along with some hints and tips to help you stay on track.

The workbook has been designed to get you started by reflecting on Q1 and start your planning for Q2, but the idea is that you can come back to the questions and exercises at the end of the every quarter to help you check in on your progress and build a stronger relationship with your own intuition.
