5 Cities I'm Dying To Visit Again

Where do you stand on returning to destinations you've already visited before? I know some people are firmly against it and prefer to tick more new places off their list, but I actually really like revisiting somewhere I've previously fallen in love with.

I love being able to wander the streets with a sense of familiarity and it's always great to hang out somewhere without feeling obliged to stick to the tourist trail and tick off all the big sights. I find that it's often on a second or third visit that you get a real sense of what a destination is all about, and for that reason, I'll never feel guilty about returning to places more than once.

I think is especially true with cities - there's always so much to see and do and eat that it can feel impossible to crack in a couple of days alone. And so with that in mind, today I'm sharing with you 5 cities I'm dying to visit again...

1) Hong Kong

I visited Hong Kong a couple of years ago for work and I absolutely fell in love with the city. I spent just over 2 weeks working and exploring and got to fit in lots of touristy stuff, like taking in the view from The Peak, riding the Star Ferry and visiting the Big Buddha. I loved the fast paced atmosphere of the city - it's a real attack on the senses and I would lov to return with Sam some time. High on my agenda would be checking out more rooftop bars and trying more local cuisine...

2) Lisbon

Lisbon is one of those cities that I find myself thinking about way more regularly than is probably normal. Sam and I visited in 2015 for a week and I have such happy memories of our trip. The food was incredible, the beer was cheap and the city is one of the most beautiful I've ever had the pleasure of exploring - plus, the sun never stopped shining. I'd love to go back, if only for an amazing dinner at the Time Out Market.

3) Boston

My Mum's best friend moved to Boston when I was around 12 or 13 and I have the best memories of spending most of my teenage summers visiting them. We'd spend the majority of our trips exploring different parts of New Hampshire and Massachussets, but we'd always spend at least one or two days in the city. I remember it being green and peaceful and teeming with history, and I'd love to go back and explore as an adult. Sam and I are actually thinking about maybe heading there in autumn before embarking on a little roadtrip to Montreal, so hopefully I'll be back there sooner than planned!

4) Edinburgh

This city has been on so many of my travel bucket lists recently and I'm absolutely determined to visit Edinburgh before the year is out! It's one of my favourite cities in the whole world - I love the museums, the humour, the architecture and the views. It's only a few hours away from Leeds on the train so I really don't have any excuse not to get back there pronto - maybe this could be our Christmas city break destination of choice this year?

5) Oslo

Oslo was one of the biggest travel surprises I've ever had. We booked the flights purely based on the fact that they were super cheap and weren't expecting all that much from the city but we totally fell in love. The gorgeous fjords were the biggest selling point and I'd love to return during the summer months to enjoy them in all their glory. We were also a little bit obsessed with the Grünerløkka and it would be great to check out Mathallen again.

Have you visited any of these cities? How do you feel about revisiting the same place twice?
